Packers Gameday Thread

Conventional wisdom says that we're walking into a buzzsaw today. But maybe it's the Packers who will hit a brick wall?

I wouldn't bet my house on an Oakland victory, but I'm not going to say it's impossible.

The Raiders have looked alternately tough and soft this year, and if this is one of their tougher days, the could prove to be a worthy foe.

Ultimately, we'll see what the Raiders are made of today. GO RAIDERS!

This is a game where the Raiders character will be defined by their mental and physical toughness.

As always, the men in the trenches will dictate the terms of the game.

Go Raiders!!!

I think it will come down to whether Michael Bush has his legs back and how creative Jackson can be with his playcalling.

This is one of those games that Hue might want to break out a couple trick plays, maybe a fake punt/kick. Every opportunity could be critical against the NFL's #1 scoring offense.

Unfortunately, the Raiders' players who are out are mostly the players that got us where we are, particularly the WRs. Ford and Moore are playmakers and potential game changers. Somebody needs to step up!

Go Raiders!

Deplorable. Calico, you said it right, this game will define the Raiders character of mental and physical toughness. We are just not there, and at this point, we don't deserve the playoffs.
RT, I think it is another week of the clown car.

That's not a clown car game. Raiders brought the whole circus!

Broncos just tied the Bears.

Broncos win in OT. Raiders are almost done. Looks like Broncos need to drop two and Raiders win out.

Once down by 34 points, Raiders start playing well.

I'm not sure this is a formula for success.

A 70% McFadden would be 4 times the running back as Bush next week. He is a short yardage runner ONLY. He had chances to cut outside the pile many times and instead lowered his shoulders into it.. like he is hoping to fall forward for a few extra yards is all. He never acts like he is interested in long yardage.

Reese and Cartright had at least a little POP at the LOS... we need our players on the FIELD next week HUE! Stop babying these fuckers... man up and get them on the field!

Looks like Bush FINALLY got his YPC over 3 this game! The last two were 1.8 and 2.8. Thats usually stats for RB's right before they get cut.

No way in hell we win out with a RB with those kind of stats.

I think Carson knows it too...

McClain is useless vs the run... the first TD given up was while he was sticking his dick up the tackles ass ala Morrison. Why is he MIDDLE LB again?? All he is good for is rushing the QB.

Huff had a grand total of ZERO plays I saw him in, which is actually pretty amazing considering how much GB was marching up and down the field... you would think he'd ACCIDENTALLY be in the area of a play every once in awhile.

The two biggest area's of need next year are FS and MLB IMO.

I'd rather lose by 40 in regulation than 3 on OT... I was too busy for football today, and, apparently, so was Oak! I am more concerned about beating a beatable team, but, uh oh, it's DETROIT! That should be a tight one... Cmon Oak, start 2012 NOW. I am IN.

(psst... tebow, broncs d... told ya so) Remember: Football first, Raiders second, everyone else third. If only the Raiders thought that way.

As bad as this game was, a complete egg laid by the men in silver and black, and in spite of the Donkeys win over Da Bears ...

All the Raiders need to do to become relevant again is beat the Lions.

Why?

Because after the Donkeys get beat by the Pats, both teams will be tied at 8-6. This is when we see which team blinks first.

The Donks go on the road to Buffalo while we travel to KC. I would expect the majority of our skills guys back for the final 2 games.

I know it looks and feels bleak right now but it still boils down to whether the Raiders are capable of another 3 game winning streak to close the season.

If the Raiders win 10 and lose the tiebreaker, so be it. If the Raiders end up with only 8 or 9 wins, we obviously don't deserve to AFCW title.

Right On Cap'n Jack... absolutely. Just win baby, start the winning streak N O W.

The wheels are falling off the clown car. A complete embarrassment, they have regressed, the Defense is lost. The stability and poise the team was showing, is fading away. The stupid penalties makes the team look bush, mental errors over and over. They are not looking like a well coached team.

Everything GB did, was with a purpose, the Raiders were playing 'draw it up in the sand' ball. Frustration is building and Hue has the task of reeling them in and making them believe that they can still do it.

Those runs that break through one wave of the Defense and they are gone, are way to familiar. It really shouldn't be that easy to break one but vs the Raiders scheme, you better believe it is. Totally outclassed in the last 2 games with no easy game in sight....a new vision on Defense is needed, DB's are below avg, LB's same and D-line has done nothing in almost half the games this yr.

Tough loss for the Raiders and a real demoralizer, it will be tough to get it done and from what I see, I don't expect it to happen....well, here is to next year...AGAIN.

Hey... you gotta give Teblow credit... when he is offered a chance, he takes it. Would I like to have his HEART on the Raiders? Sure.

Would I like to have a below 50% career passer on the Raiders? Not if my life depended on it... hell, even JaMarcus completed passes at a better clip (granted he was too fat to run, but the NFL is still a PASSING league.) The ONLY way he can win is in low scoring games. They are playing a lot of low scoring teams lately... and then only squeaking by... lets see how they handle the high flying Patriots next week.

Then come here bragging about his greatness, Oaktown.

...not bragging about Tebow, but I do think he is a spark for that team, which is more than I can say for, um... nevermind. That was a football thread, not a Tebow thread... his mechanics are painful, but heart covers that, as does teamwork. If the Raiders were a heavy metal band, well, today,... they are known as Pathettica! But I still like um. My blood's black, can't help it.

I know there's enough blame to go around, but Rolando McClain should be driving that clown car of yours. He's a punk.

Strangely enough though, that Bears loss hurt me more than the Raiders' loss. Thanks Marion Barber.

Well, this team was better prepared, week in, week out, last year with Tom Cable and John Marshall.

The game plans lately seem very eratic on both sides of the ball. This team seems to have regressed, not progressed.

Oaktown,

Once again the Denver defense plays at a Super Bowl level and keeps the game within reach. All the headlines say is "Tebow does it agaain."

I got no animus toward the guy, but I like strong defense. I've stated more than once that the quikest way back to the playoffs is with a strong kick ass defense.

In their last seven wins the defense has held the opposition to 15 or less points in five of those games. The Denver defense is the best kept secret in the NFL.

I'm no Gelding fan, but I tip my hat to their defense and the job John Fox has done. Their defense was crap last year. Ours was better last year.

And, even though I dissagree with some of the calls on our guys, mostly because they weren't being called on the Cheesheads, we were signigicantly better in that department last year also.

Just how can Lamar Houston get thrown to the ground and holding not be called, or our guys get tripped????????

Hue Jackson asked before the game, "Why can't it be the Raiders who become this year's Green Bay Packers, and come into the playoffs as an underdog and win it all?"

Well Hue, after this game you should have your answer. There is no physical toughness to punch the opponent (regardless of who it is) in the face. Last year at this time, Green Bay went into every game with the swagger that they were going to win it all. The Raiders, at this point, do not have that swagger. Not only do they not have that swagger; they don't have the physical toughness.

I didn't expect to win this game, but I didn't expect to be blown out either. I expected a competitive game that could have gone either way. The Raiders looked lost yesterday. That is why I don't think the Raiders can be this year's Green Bay Packers.
