Safe travels, RT. The Raiders are traveling in a foreign time zone too, figuratively speaking. They maybe have three winnable games left this season. Cowboys, Browns and Giants. Odds are they will find a way to lose all three. Maybe that's a blessing. We kind had this discussion to end the season last year.
The Raiders have been steeped in disappointment this year. So much so that watching MNF this week will be like rubbernecking an accident. A meaningless game between two once great teams. The biggest difference is the Cowboys have two solid WRs and a capable QB. The Raiders don't.
Safe travels, Take! Go Raiders. Living in TX and being around a bunch of Cowboys fans, I pray we win tonight.

After Crosby sack/fumble, Raiders 3 passes, 1 sack, no completions, 3 points instead of 7. Chip Kelly sucks

I’m not buying the Sunday Ticket let next year if there are not substantial changes. This is insulting.
And to those who bitch about Gruden 2.0, yes there were some things to be frustrated about. But I’m watching a team that wins 8-10 games a year every week because they are capable of winning every week and are contending for the playoffs after Thanksgiving. Watching the squad since Gruden was canned and Bisaccia was replaced is a waste of time.
Injuries or not, Pete Carroll, with help from his friends (and family), has produced the worst Raiders team we've seen since Art Shell II. We can use cliches like "take one step back to take two steps forward" or it's just "growing pains" but this Raiders team is historically bad. They are poorly coached. Who would have thought? Every game is "supposed" to be the game which the Raiders start to turn it around. Yet, coaches have no answers.
Kind of ironic that coaches wouldn't use JPJ at center (his natural position) under any circumstances, but they will use Putnam... and man did he get handled by the Cowboys interior D-line. What a farse. The stupid play call of the game was on the safety. Running Jeanty up the middle behind Putnam from the Raiders own 1-yard-line was a failed play call before it was sent to the huddle. Somehow, the Raiders coaches didn't see that coming.
This is an absolute low period in the Raiders history, again!
Funny that the Raiders have never recovered since McDaniels forced Derek Carr out of the organization. Maybe Carr wasn't the answer but the team has mostly spiraled out of control since he left. Maybe I'd feel better if they were grooming someone who had promise. But that's clearly not the case.
Mark Davis will continue to make coin regardless of the Raiders success, because it's Vegas! My guess is more stupid, unvetted decisions are on the horizon for the Raiders.
We all knew getting rid of Carr without a valuable replacement would set the franchise back 5 years, maybe more. But this is beyond comical and clown.
Chip Kelly only rushed Jeanty 6 times last night, and 4 of those came in one drive that ended with Geno throwing an interception.
We had the chance to control the game after Crosby forced a fumble by running Jeanty in the Red Zone; and Chip calls for 3 pass plays that ended with ZERO completions, 1 sack, and only 3 points. I told my son, "We just lost this game." My son said to have faith because it was still early. At that point, Jeanty only had 1 carry, while Geno had passed the ball 12 times.
To throw a mix-n-match O-Line and not play the 2 rookies you drafted because they announced this week they may have a chance to start is ridiculous. Both Grant and Rogers were "healthy scratches" again, and both announced earlier this week that they may start.
Chip Kelly needs to be fired, TODAY! All the games this season has overwhelmed him, and the NFL is too much for him, send him back to college or high school.
I also go back to my statement about Mark Davis. He needs to go Carlie Irsay-Gordon here, and start being on the sidelines with headphones; ask questions, learn the playbook, and start holding people accountable. Then he needs to hire coaches who will build a game-plan around the strengths of the players. Until he does these things, the Raiders will continue to spiral.

IMO, the Raiders approach on offense lacks balance for a reason; they can't run block their way out of a paper bag. The pass blocking isn't much better but Geno Smith is able to avoid some pressure and get the ball out there. Not great but it's what we got.
My problem isn't so much the imbalance (though that's clearly a problem), it's Kelly's incompetence in dealing with the Raiders shortcomings. The Raiders inability to run block and sustain pass blocking is well established at this point (everybody knows!). Their best plays usually include some deception and/or lateral movement. Kelly calls those plays and they look good, but then he goes right back into denial and runs plays up the middle or has Smith looking for go routes while he's being swarmed by defenders.
It's really remarkable how pathetic the playcalling has been this entire year, pretty much unchanged by Kelly and unchecked by Carroll.
Which begs the question, is ANYONE in charge of this mess?

This current configuration could be the worst OL in Raider history. It makes it difficult to put all the blame on Chip and Geno. Sandy
IDK, there has been a plethora of former players, coaches, current Raiders players and pundits calling foul on playcalling. It's pretty obvious the playcalling is way off, and it predates the O-line injuries. And Geno Smith looks more defeated with every game.
IMO, this is going nowhere... this year or in the foreseeable future. They dismantled a "meh" team and made it worse. Now they don't know how to put it back together. They can't even get us back to "meh."
Alternately, if they plan to rebuild and develop players (as it appears that's their only option), why are their top O-line draft picks not on the gameday rosters? Shouldn't the process already be started?
There's no normalcy to this situation. It's way off track. It looks sloppy and mismanaged.
I guess even Pete Carroll is even questioning the playcalling (wondering why Jeanty isn't getting the ball more). But Carroll is conflicted with the mission at hand. He's still prioritizing winning games instead of developing young talent for future success. That's probably why his two top O-line picks are healthy scratches to the active roster last week.
More than halfway through a two-win season and the head coach is still trying to win games for the sake of it.

They are playing 5 rookies a decent amount of snaps. The rest are obviously not ready especially considering how ineffectual the 5 who are playing have been. The talent is really just that bad with the exception of Maxx and Brock being super stars and Jeanty looks like he will be a stud as well if they ever fix the o line. Sandy
The Raiders only last week brought Bech into the mix, and two weeks ago Porter. But watching Will Putnam get plowed over so many times on Monday leaves very little reason to keep the current O-line out there to "win games." Put Meredith back at center and bring in these "stud" kids and give them trial by fire. These guys were 3rd round picks. Are they telling us they're not ready to play in an otherwise lost season?
Clearly, there is no reason to pretend this season might turn. At the very least, the Raiders look confused as to what their current or future plan might be. Listening to Carroll, he's trying to win now, and clearly his roster choices demonstrate that.
Play Cam Miller! Bring back AOC, who's clearly better than Smith.

This headline absolutely queues it up for this week against the Browns.
"Shedeur Sanders Is Going To Make The Raiders Regret Draft Day Decision."
Sanders was once thought to be a Top-5 pick. The Raiders had seven (7) opportunities to draft him and passed all 7 times, the latter 2-3 times with apparent prejudice. They could have taken a flier on Sanders at virtually no expense.
Maybe Sanders flops. But if Sanders plays and beats the Raiders Sunday, that will fully embody the disastrous season like no other in the history of the Raiders. A season filled with bad decisions, bad coaching, bad playcalling and bad play. It's a no-win situation, IMO.
Carroll has seven games left to claw himself above Art Shell's final season. Personally, I don't think he can. If Kelly and Smith come back next year, can we expect 6 wins? Then maybe 8 wins in 2027 before Carroll leaves.
Am I missing something? The math never worked... but Davis did it anyway.

The fact that Chip Kelly continues to call critical plays (e.g., at both end zones, and on 3rd and 4th downs) with runs up the middle proves he is clueless. Last week he called a QB sneak on 4th down and long 2 yards which got stuffed.
After 10 weeks of the same crap, is it reasonable to anticipate Kelly will actually change what he's doing? Even if he does, it's hard to get past the fact that he's operated the same miserable offense for 10 weeks straight with little to no adjustment. This is headbanging stuff. Does Pete Carroll not see what's happening? Where's the quality control from the head coach?
Carroll keeps saying publicly he thinks Geno Smith is doing a good job and still believes in him. If that's true, what does he think the problem is? Figure it out, Pete!
JT the Brick? Does he even know football? Prolly not, he just likes the sound of his own voice. He is employed by the Raiders and won't tear into them too bad. Sure, he'll question play calls, but won't tear down the real problem. He's a homer, and I quit listening to anything he says, the only person who listens to him is himself.
The whole game plan was awful. Pete, immediately after the loss on Monday, talked about how they intentionally went to a passing offense game plan because they thought it was the best way to beat Dallas. Really, Pete? Look, I know he is loyal to people, but he needs to fire Chip or he will go down with him. To not start Grant or Rogers is not going to go well. They are trying to sell they had bad practices, and that is garbage. Both players said they worked hard and had an opportunity to start, and then got JPJ'd.
What's the difference what the offense does ? The 0-line can't pass block and they can't run block. No difference what the play call is. Jeanty runs right into the ass of one of his "blockers" almost every time. And Geno drops back and before he can look downfield, is pressured, or sacked.
The 0-line is a joke, and everything is crumbling all around it.
The O-line is a joke, but the Raiders playcalling was equally bad prior to injuries. I know everyone is frustrated, but obviously they can call plays to counter pressure and teams stacking the box. Chip Kelly is always one step behind the opposing defense. The entire league has his playbook. It's really pathetic.
In terms of Carroll firing Kelly or going down with him, Pierce got the ax for the same reason, hiring and retaining Getsy too long. Carroll has his past coaching achievements to protect him... besides the fact that Mark Davis would appear even more ineffectual if he were to fire another HC after one season. Perhaps there's no right answer for Davis.
IMO, this is a low point in Raiders history like no other. The Raiders are in the midst of a perfect storm of awful. If Carroll/Spytek/Kelly stay together and somehow claw their out of the abyss they created, it will be nothing short of a miracle.
It's a common theme throughout media that the Raiders brass and coaching staff are not on the same page (win now vs develop now). A good point is made in this article that if the Raiders draft a QB he will almost certainly sit for a year. That makes 2027 the year when the rebuild starts. Retaining Carroll to start a rebuild in the final year of his contract makes no sense. The article makes several good points.

My feeling is, the Browns and Giants are the only winnable games left in the season. If the Raiders lose one, or certainly if they lose both, heads may roll. Losing to Sanders-led Browns may be enough... especially, if Spytek thinks Carroll is going the wrong direction with development.
Raiders fans (we) deserve better. For whatever reason(s), the Pete Carroll hire went sideways. Carroll's primary mission to improve the team and win now has already failed and it looks like a full rebuild, by any reasonable measure, will extend beyond Carroll's contract.
Raiders brass need to scramble and find a replacement that can stay in place and see this thing through. A Ben Johnson type hire. Without naming them, there are many high-end coordinators out there that fit that mold.
Alternately, Mark Davis once brought back Jon Gruden. Maybe that was a mistake because of Gruden's long absence from coaching. Perhaps in a similar vein (i.e., in another move that absolutely goes against Al Davis wishes), could Mark Davis bring back Lane Kiffin? Some will cringe at the thought but with Al Davis, Kiffin was a victim of undefined authority. The head coach wanted Calvin Johnson (aka Megatron) and instead got JaMarcus Russell (aka purple drank).
Kiffin looks to be available. Maybe he wouldn't come back to the NFL and maybe not the Raiders specifically, but like I said, there many high-end OC/DC prospects to choose from. The Raiders need to take a hard look... and soon! If Spytek and Brady are working in the Raiders best interest, that decision will happen this year.
Meanwhile, Carroll should pull Chip Kelly as playcaller. Kelly's failure is widely recognized.

Maxx Crosby has been all alone this year. The Raiders signed Koonce to a sizable contract (coming off a significant injury) and he's been absentee. Wilson has slowly gotten better, but he still lacks any compliment to Crosby.
The blueprint to beat the Raiders has never been more obvious. Stack the box (to stop runs up the middle and spy on Bowers), pressure the QB and double-team the crazy guy with a Raiders tattoo. If the Browns do that, they can (will) beat the Raiders. AI predicts Browns 33-30 in OT.
Honestly two 2-8 teams battling for a top-5 draft position. I usually go to a local watering hole to watch Raiders games with friends, but I'm not sure if today's Raiders game will be worthy of broadcasting in a public place.
IMO, the only intriguing aspect about today's game is whether Sanders will make fools of the Raiders... not that they need help in that dept. With seven games remaining, it's too early to root for draft slotting, or is it.
Note to Chip Kelly: show us something else! Anything!
With so much pressure to develop young players, will the two big rookie O-linemen be healthy scratches again today? Maybe that's the real story. The Raiders can't win games and they refuse to develop with serious intent. Are they telling us after an entire offseason program and 11 weeks of game preparation, two rookie linemen aren't ready to step up and help the worst O-line in the NFL? Who's the O-line coach? Oh, that's right.
