Bears Gameday Thread

Getting this one going early for two reasons: I'm gonna be on the run this weekend, and we need to wash the taste of last weekend out of our mouths.

Now THIS match, this one feels sort of a like a must win, right?

GO RAIDERS!

Now, finally, I think I understand the new "softer" mantra, "It's time to compete." Whoever came up with that knew what we are only now figuring out. The team is not ready to win. They are struggling to compete.

What we've seen the past couple weeks is really inexcusable. I guess that's why teams have off-season programs. But, so far, the Raiders players and the Raiders schemes don't match. That's on management and coaches to figure out. IMO, this is not a personnel issue unless Carroll makes it one... one which he gets rid of good players only to look for others who fit a scheme. I feel like we've done that too many times already, and that's largely why we're in this predicament. Otherwise, why bring in a great coach if he can't coach to strengths of the best players on the roster? Honestly, the Raiders have long abandoned being pragmatic in their approach to anything. The hit or miss approach is all they know.

Anyway, Da Bears are definitely beatable. But the question is, can the Raiders beat them? That's the $64k question even Pete Carroll can't answer.

If the Raiders lose at home to the Bears, we might start wondering at what point does Carroll regret coming out of retirement to coach? As I said before, the Raiders are a special challenge for any HC, even for the great Pete Carroll.

Parnham and JPJ are the only omes looking confused. Derek Carr did a nice breakdown of it on his Home Grown youtube channel.
If we are going to keep JPJ and Parnham at Guard, then lets go back to last season positions, when Parnham was RG, and JPJ was LG. You wanna know why they look lost? Start there.

Good point, Nate. If we've learned anything over the years from switching positions or transitioning players to the opposite side, like with Richie Incognito, the footwork is different and it doesn't always work. That's like asking a BB player to be a switch hitter. It takes a unique talent.

You'd think there are enough examples throughout NFL history that we wouldn't be dealing with this, again!

Media portray Carroll as getting tired of answering the JPJ questions, but media are making the obvious observation that seems to be escaping the Raiders.

Its been my observation for at least 2 decades that the Raiders seem to find a way to self-destruct from any type of progress from the previous season. Our O-Line was bad last season, but it was due to the Center position. Once JPJ took that it seem to correct itself. Somehow, the new coaching staff found a way to self destruct in this area and make it worse. It's going to be difficult to watch until they figure this out.
I've also said the last few years, it is easy to get into the hype and positivity before the season begins (like I was this year), but man, their new mantra should be JUST PROVE IT, BABY! They have once again, left me disappointed this season.

Man, Chip Kelly is horrible. How many times did he call the same play up the middle on third and short and forth and short? The right side was wide open on the last drive, before the blocked kick.

Way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And way to waste an absolute ball-out game by Maxx Crosby and Ashton Jeanty.

Not sure why Pete Carroll looked so surprised on the sidelines. The Bears were not a good team today but they had enough to beat the Raiders.

There's nothing I'm seeing that resembles progress. Dare I say, the 2025 Raiders look about as bad as any Raiders team during their decades-long drought. Even with Smith throwing a pick every other possession, that was a winnable game. What a shame!

Geno Smith in 4 games, 6 TDs, 7 INTs. Time to try Kenny Picket. Put it this way, if Geno has 3 INTs on the year, raiders are at least 3-1. You have to protect the football. This is unexceptable. Say what you want, but AOC was better than this.
Chip has to call better plays.
Jeanty carried the offense today

It's really beyond comprehension that the Raiders wasted epic performances by Crosby and Jeanty. Chip Kelly runs one of the most unimaginative offenses we've seen, and they can't even run it. They've moved 3/5 of their O-line out of their natural positions, and we've all seen the results. Each week they tell us they're correcting the issues, but they don't. They're still running the same formations and getting the same results. The three INTs by Geno Smith were all on the same play call. Chip Kelly is a gift to every team the Raiders play. And how stupid was it to go on 4th down fairly deep in their own territory in the 1st half? Both teams did that, but the Raiders are bush league.

I know some here just want to see progress this year. But what's the baseline for that progress? Truly remarkable that the baseline appears below what Pierce left behind.

Q: when will the "better" coaching start?

Also, why is it every time the Raiders get a late lead in the game, Jeanty comes out of the game, and all of a sudden Maxx is dropping back in coverage? The QB must go down! We must eat the clock. They are taking the ball out of the best player's hands. This is seriously Josh McDaniels 2.0 at this point

New take is up, and I'm really interested in what you have to say about it.
