Jaguars Gameday Thread

Today, the Raiders need to bottle up Bortles, Robinson and Hurns and get their defense on track.

The Raiders have been playing with fire all year and have scratched their way to a 4-2 record despite having the worst defense in the NFL to date, which is a minor miracle if you think about it.

The Jaguars are eminently beatable, and it's time for the Raiders to do it. GO RAIDERS!

Half way through 3rd quarter raiders up by 11, would love to see a heavy dose of Murray and the run game to put this one away.

It was like the new Raiders v. the old Raiders out there today.

One team was ineffective, dropped key passes, couldn't mount a comeback, got pushed around and lost its composure.

The other team imposed its will, made its own luck (see ball bounce into King's hands, only to have him run wild), and kept the upper hand all the way to the finish.

There's still work to be done, but things are trending quite well!

5-2 kind of speaks for itself. King made the play of the day off a bad snap. He did something the Raiders offense couldn't do all second half; get a first down.

Nonetheless, it is what it is. 5-2.

Enjoy it!

Good to see the secondary starting to round into shape. Joseph, looks promising, he has ball skills and speed to support at the line even if he is a little small.

Hopefully the D-line will get the pass rush going if a healthy Edwards can come back and Aldon Smith gets reinstated. That's a lot ifs.

NY I hear you about the Offense in the second half. But with Carr now I don't worry about scoring when they have to. BTW, that bomb to Crabtree was incredible throw and incredible catch.
It was also good to see more of a commitment to the power run game.

Richard on punt returns is a plus player.

If the Raiders can beat Tampa next week? Looking at the schedule it seems favorable. Will it be time to start looking at the standings every week? I think we dare to to start dreaming of playoffs at 6-2

Each game is different, but I didn't like the Raiders playing "not to lose" in the second half yesterday. Raiders were fortunate the Jags beat themselves in many aspects, e.g., open WRs dropping passes, poor ball security, etc.

It was nice to see more press coverage by the Raiders (mostly in the first half), but the pass rush is weak, and they seldom blitz.

IMO, Raiders will need to step it up more next week against the Bucs. These two teams are neck and neck on offense, but the Bucs hold a huge advantage with their defense.

Winston (12 TDs) can run, but he's more of a pocket passer, like Carr. So matching up some press coverage and blitzes might work. So far, the Raiders have been way too conservative on defense, playing mostly base 4 pass rush and deep coverage secondary. Yesterday notwithstanding, the result has been league-worst at giving up big plays.

Hopefully, nobody is looking past this game to the divisional match-up with the Broncos.

Tonight only... Go Texans!

Sandy,
I don't want to jinx our season so far by thinking/dreaming of playoffs. Remember under Hue Jackson we were 8-4 and looking at the playoffs, and then we lost it. I won't count on the playoffs until we are in the playoffs!
With that said, I'm more excited about this season than I was when we were 8-4. I do like our chances this year and am hoping that yesterday's game is the one we will look back at as the game where our defense stepped it up.
I also did not like our effort in the second half yesterday. Musgraves needs to keep the offense throttling. Just like I hate it when the Raiders fall into a "Prevent" defense. Grrr.... I think coaches should be fired for that kind of attitude.
Bottom line, JUST WIN, BABY!
