Chargers Gameday Thread

One quarter down, and it's playing like a typical home game against the Chargers so far: kinda ugly, some bright spots mixed with missed opportunities and mental mistakes, yet still keeping it close.

Let's make it 4-1.

We are the least convincing 4 and 1 ever but the offense always gives us a chance and so far we have gambled successfully . If our d gets its shit together then watch out

It took a choke by the Chargers for the Raiders clear this win. It's easy to pin marginal play on the defense, but how can the offense be guilty of so many pre-snap penalties at home?

And what happened to the defense that help beat the Broncos at the end of last year?

Another huge game next week!

This team reminds me of the old Browns, "Cardiac Kids".

The wins aren't always pretty, but they're fun.

So after 13 yrs of horror shows, I'll take any wins, anytime.

This game should not have been this close. #1 Cooper was robbed on 2 TDs yesterday. How can he be pushed out of bounds, come back in, catch the ball, get 2 feet on the ground and it be incomplete? He also had a TD taken away where he had both feet in.

#2 Our defense is atrocious. Mack is double teamed almost every snap, with chip blocks, and our other guys cannot make any noise on pass rush. Mack was so close to his first multiple sack game yesterday despite getting that. If other guys would step up, he'd come alive. Our linebackers and Reggie Nelson look lost out there. It is almost like they cannot see the play develop. Smith and Joseph saved our butts on a few deep passes. We can't blitz because we can't even cover in the base defense. I miss Aldon Smith and Mario Edwards Jr. Can't wait to get them back so they can "FREE MACK!"

#3 Raiders O-Line is having trouble keeping the Right Tackle healthy. Vadal Alexander rolled his ankle yesterday before the half, but I didn't see if he returned or not. Dude is an animal too! Feliciano was man-handled on a play that Carr was sacked on.

In the end, a "W" is a "W". We are 4-1 tied for first. If we are going to make some noise, we need to play better defense. I love Washington and Richard though. They are the new Garner/Wheatley.

Derek Carr in the presser yesterday said that Denver was the team to beat in our division because they've earned. Then added, "We haven't done anything yet. We know that there is so much more that we can do, and that we need to do to earn it."

Man! I truly am amazed by Derek Carr. He gets it. Cowerd already voting him the Leagues' MVP.

12 rookies played on sunday, this last draft could be better than the Mack, Carr, Jackson etc draft. Raiders have the best drafting since Reg took over.

The defense is still gelling, many new players to play together again. Edwards is missed mostly by Mack, he would be a real bonus when he comes back. How bout that F.A. MLB signing a few days before S.D......causes 2 fumbles and is the best MLB they have had so far this year. McKenzie is showing like a magician sometimes.

What happened to all the Reg haters? SMH. #1 in the AFC and you are still trying to find something to bitch about....= more ego than brain.

I am, you know who

Norton needs more blitz's and stunts , at times they do look lost as if Norton doesn't break down game film correctly to put his defense in the proper position

The problems on defense are now deep enough that it falls to JDR (a defense-minded HC) to correct them. Blown coverages, poor run defense and lack of QB pressure are significant, individually. Collectively, these are a recipe for disaster.

Derek Carr has been masterful but how many games can he overcome subpar defense?

It seems like when Raiders dial up on offense, the defense falters.

When Raiders dial down on offense, defense is better. Example is the Tenn. game. Raiders offense had off game, and the D had their best game of season.

BTW, notice how NFL ratings are declining. Serves them right for pushing boring Donkoes on fans every week. Donkoes on T.V. every week, but I'll never watch them,(unless they play Raiders of course).

This thurs. Donkoes vs Chargers..screw it, I'll watch the baseball game instead.

NFL better hope Raiders have a good 15-20 year run of success. That's what can cure NFL ratings drop.

While Vegas keeps moving toward having the Raiders a place to play, and talks starting to loom among owners if it is viable to have a team in Vegas, what is not being mentioned too much in the news is that Oakland/Alameda has had meetings with the Raiders the last several months about a new stadium proposal. They are working at getting plans and funding plans together to present to the Raiders and the League, but there is a plan in place that they are working on. I'm not holding my breath, but I think this may be a viable plan. There is rumor that it is with the Lott/Peete group, but neither side is confirming nor denying who the plan belongs to at this point.

Nate, given the option of having someone kick in 3/4 the cost to build a big new stadium or receiving no funding to build a smaller new stadium -- and knowing Davis doesn't have the means to build any stadium on his own -- any discussions are probably still not moving the needle.

Oakland has not publicly offered anything to the Raiders, unless you consider ONLY charging the Raiders "market value" for the underlying land.

The defense is ranked dead last in the NFL right now, which is not something "to bitch about," but rather a statistical fact and an observation for anyone currently enthused and engaged about the state of the Raiders. Shall we live in fantasy land: "The offense is playing awesome, and that defense looks good, too!" Huh? No. Aiming to censor the observation that the defense sucks right now to buy time until it doesn't so that you can someday say you were right all along is not an honest take of the Raiders as of 10/13/16.

Clear and concise. No truer words have been spoken. It almost brought a tear to my eye to read it because you summed up the last several years so nicely in one simple yet thoughtful sentence.

Cheers!
