They are making a statement alright, coaches have given up on the players and the players have given up on themselves. All these guys will be gone and they know it, they have thrown in the towel more than any team in history. Completely given up, can't wait until the Raiders can get some players with football skills and football hearts. These guys can't tackle, can't catch, can't run routes, can read a play. It's so bad, they all know it and have quit. Watch these players be out of the league either next year or the next.

Good call, Anon. The Clown Car is out of the garage, the first in-game clown car ever, justly earned by the FOURTH consecutive week of defensive debacles.

Anyone notice how much DA looks like Lane Kiffin? Maybe these coaches should get fired. This team was 7-4 at this point last season with virtually the same personnel.

Defensive debacles?!!! The Raiders offense didn't convert a 3rd down till 5:30 left in the 2nd Quarter!!!

Yes, defensive debacle, on pace to give up 48 points, after giving up 38, 55 and 42 points the previous three weeks.

Doesn't mean the offense is great, but the defense is at the steering wheel of this 2012 train wreck.

Last year and this year is 2 different animals. The team was built for a different way. And they still only made 8-8 twice. Now, they see the writing on the wall, they aren't wanted, they don't fit and they have quit. They were 1-4 down the stretch last year after the Boss passed away, they gave up then too. They don't have the cojones to be top rated NFL players, champions never quit, these guys have quit multiple times. 8-8 was their best, they won't be in Oakland next year.

Blogger nyraider said...

Jones, nobody quit. That's just another excuse. Raiders played much harder in the second half. How's that quitting?

This team just plain sucks right now; players and coaches.

And where’s the fight in Dennis Allen and the rest of the coaches who just stood and watched the officials turn a Raiders defensive TD into a do over for the Bengals offense?

97% of the coaches in the league would have been ejected after that call.

Four straight blowouts and no sign of life. This is a very bad football team!

2:29 PM
Anonymous JONES said...

Nobody quit? How would you know? You have never played a sport in your life. They quit mentally, they did a few games ago. And that's all it takes to make a poor team into a pitiful one. They know they are gone from this team, they KNOW IT. Once that happens, they lose a mental edge, if they even had 1 to begin with, they ARE DONE.

JONES

That's a crock!

This isn't pop warner. It’s not a hobby, and it's much more than a sport; it's a business.

If the coaches quit on the players, as you suggest, they should be fired!

Moreover, if the coaches can't find something to build on for next year, they might not deserve to come back.

Let's do a petition to get Lecheler kicked out of the team Jones, he had a terrible day again today right (NOT)

5:13 PM
Blogger Calico Jack said...

I really don't see effort or coaching as major issues. I see a defense who gives up big explosive plays early in games due to mental errors, poor tackling, losing 1 on 1 battles, and overall lack of talent.

It is a domino effect as we get down 2 scores before the 1st quarter even ends.

Once this domino effect begins, the offense has had costly turnovers to make the the past 4 games blowouts.

The other undesired effect of the past 4 weeks is a team who lacks confidence.

All I've been asking the past few weeks is just once, see the Raiders start the game on the front foot. Instead, we continue to climb out of a bigger and bigger hole.

NYR, forget it, you are clueless, how's Taiwan doin? Still a threat to "take it to the house" on every play?

As far as Pop Warner, I've seen kids who are way more coachable than these clowns. You are right, they (players) are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS, to be at the top of their craft. These guys can't tackle, can't catch, can't block, can't run routes properly. Their hearts are not into it, so really, can the Raider players be called professional? Because they come real short of what the meaning is.

They blow assigments left right and center, they can't start a game ready to go, you learn as a kid that if you can't get yourself ready to play the game, that you shouldn't be playing the game. These guys show up for 1 qrtr per game, they quit, they will be out of the league in a year or 2.

Allen will still be HC, this isn't the Mr. Davis version, McKenzie will get his time to get his players, THEN, we can judge Allen. You can't hire a HC and throw him into this mess and then fire him. If you do, you are continuing the failures of the past. Oh well, there's your lesson for the day, NYR. You can thank me later.

So Jones if the coaches are so good and the players are so bad how come the same players went 8-8 last year with different coaches and seemed on the verge of really turning the corner as a football team?

7:27 PM
Anonymous JONES said...

As far as the coaches quitting...they understand that these players were brought up in a universe that does not coincide with normal football scenarios. That they are short on football talent and cannot do the basics of what is being asked of them. I think the coaches have indentified that there is no way to win with these players under their systems. The players know that HC/GM want a new roster so they are just playing it out. It's a dysfunctional mess and will take some time to sort out with cap and roster issues. Allen is staying, the players are leaving.

Blah blah blah...last year the team went 1-4 down the stretch when Hue was begging them to win for the Late Mr.Davis. They quit, Hue said he was going to make a lot of changes because the team needed an "attitude adjustment" when he still considered himself to be the new leader of the Raiders. 8-8 was their peak, you may accept that as a SB contender, meanwhile the rest of the league calls that MEDIOCRE.

If the defense that showed up in the second half had been there all game, this might have been a non-clown car. As it is.. this team gets worse every week. I don't know how anyone can pin this on the players.

I don't know if I have ever seen an offensive lineman simply stand there after the snap and let someone run around him to the QB without moving a single muscle until today. Barnes did this. I saw it.

This o-line is a joke. The o-line coach should be shot. Carson has maybe 2 seconds to complete a pass... there is no continuity... I saw one lineman take out his teammate on the goal line today.

McClain let the first TD go by sticking his dick into a lineman instead of simply holding his ground... he's only done this three hundred times in his career. Is he uncoachable or is there no one to tell him he is fucking up???

Carson looks like he is bagging it for the season... stick a fork in this team. Sorry... good luck in building a SB contender with this coaching staff... they look like a laughing stock right now.

To deny it is worse than any of the "Al-Jockers" in the day.

I see NOTHING but regression every week. I am not going to point fingers and say I told you so, BECAUSE I DIDN'T. I thought this could work.

But holy hell this looks like a horrible team. Worst in the NFL? Outcoached on both sides of the ball 8 of ten games. Sorry folks... this dog don't hunt... and its what we are stuck with.

The core of the team is still Mr.Davis players, they are a different breed and are not what this Admin is looking for.

You can scream, pound your fists, even cry that these players were so close to the Super Bowl, now that is a joke.

Give the new regime a chance to get their own players who can play in their systems, cause this mix of core and coaches just isn't going to work. Once again, the players are leaving and will be out of the NFL in a year or 2.

Missed assignments and mis-tackles are just part of the problem. This team looks sorely unprepared to play football, week after week.

The Raiders offense is unimaginative, and the defense plays on it’s heels for at least the first half. At one point, Knapp called the same screen play within three plays in the same series. And the deep safety positioning that had been the bane of previous Raiders defenses has found it’s way back. On the long TD run, Giordano was too deep to make a play on Green-Ellis until he was at the goal line.

Before you go blaming the Al Davis culture more, maybe you should count the roster again.

There are 27 new players on the 53-man roster.

This coaching staff is definitely doing on-the-job training. That is undeniable. If you deny that you are being factually dishonest. They do have some dud players that will have to be addressed. We just have to hope that the coaching staff gets its growning pains out this year. To fire them all would not be prudent at this point. To say its all Al Davis fault because of the players he has brought in over the years is pretty laughable.

The last time we had two back to back 8-8 seasons and a franchise QB in place, we were in the championship hunt three straight seasons.

This time we are the worst team in the NFL hands down.

I wish that was a legit excuse, but our offense is being handled completely by a veteran coach. He's done this before. And was as horrible at it as before.

I don't need to keep watching this offense run by Knapp for two more years to decide he doesn't know what he is doing. Once Knapp falls behind, he doesn't have a clue what to do about it... and to make things worse, he doesn't even let CP call his own plays anymore. I think he is embarrassed by it.

Yup.. just more patience is what we need though. Knapp will lead us to the promised land!! Just ask Jones!

27 players that had to fill out a team that had no cap space. You guys are pretty damn dumb. The core starters, the players the team needs to depend on, are the left overs from Mr.Davis' team. Coaches are staying, players are leaving....keep crying though.

Gary, why don't you mention that Gruden got a huge influx of top veteran players that helped him get passed the amazing 8-8 record? Woodson, Romanowski, Garner, Rice, Gannon etc. It's not like Gruden had a roster was full of dogs, like this roster. He had PLAYERS, with top talent, playmakers, guys who could get the job done and could show the others how to get it done. This roster has no top players and no leaders, it's full of quitters and guys with low football IQ's.

Jones - The Al Davis culture thing was your excuse. Are you changing your story now that you learn that 27 players are new to this team?

You call core players quitters, but I don't see it. Kelly, who you have complained about before, came off the bench to protect his teammates. Plus, Allen said it was the vet players in the lockerroom at halftime that made the biggest noise about the lackluster 1st half performance.

"We have replaced healthy veterans with "UDFA"s and "IR" retreads"....

You mean guys like Stanford Routt? DVD? Chris Johnson? Are these guys in the League still? These players were in Oakland because Mr.Davis thought they fit his style of playing Defense. Once again, these players who leave Oakland, are out of the league in a year or 2. Bush is stuck behind Forte and is doing nothing. Wimbley, he's lighting it up, isn't he?

Coaches found out that these players aren't what they are looking for, the players know it, so now they have tanked. Listen to what they are saying after the game yesterday, Allen is putting it on the players, the players are saying Palmer told them to "man up" at halftime and then they decided to play a qrtr of football for their QB, wow, they rallied for a whole qrtr just to fall apart again.

They are losers, in a football sense. Give the coaches some players they can work with and then judge. McKenzie's job this offseason will be to bring in another boat load of players. Hopefully some top F.A's and good draft picks so Allen can have some players to work with. All the crying of "they went 8-8", big deal, the last HC said the players quit on him too but still the stupid fans ("crew')point and say "we had a really good team and they blew it up". Hue said he was going to blow it up too, does that not sink into your thick and I mean very thick, skulls?

"Kelly, who you have complained about before, came off the bench to protect his teammates. Plus, Allen said it was the vet players in the lockerroom at halftime that made the biggest noise about the lackluster 1st half performance."

NYR, I have lost any respect I had for you....Kelly ran onto the field to protect his teammates? Are you freakin retarded? You think it's a good thing? It just shows the "culture" of the old guard. SELFISH move by Kelly, any player who does that and gets himself kicked out of the game is an IDIOT. And you praise it? Maybe Kelly should get a raise in the offseason for this courageous move of "defending his teammates". Reward for failure, yeah, that "culture".

Palmer told the players to "man up"....so it took this far down the shit rope for the players to FINALLY take it upon themselves to get pissed off and say to themselves "we need to start playing"? Holy shit and you slap them on the back and say "look at them man up" for 1 qrtr? Some Raider fans are the dumbest fans in America.

I agree some of the players added were fringe and/or depth players, but they are not part of the Raiders culture you mention. And it's not a few players; it's half the roster.

Also, I disagree completely that the coaches and the players have quit on each, as you also suggest above and in previous threads.

IMO, the problems the Raiders are facing exist on many levels, and we won't know just how bad until solutions are found. Meanwhile, the Raiders have hit bottom and nobody should be free from blame here.

Well Gary, I think the jury is still out on that.

It may well be that hiring a first time GM, who then hired a first time HC, was a mistake.

Maybe the Raiders are such a mess, that more experienced people were/are needed to turn it around.

However, I would like to give Reggie a couple of drafts, where he actually has some draft picks, to see what he can do.

I also would like to see DA coach the new players Reggie brings in.

It's up to McKenzie to make the right moves and it will take some time. It ain't the time to be running around like a chicken with it's head cutoff. Assess the situation and be logical.

It's a very unique situation, how many times have you seen an NEW Owner/GM/HC and staff take on a team with fringe players and turn them into Super Bowl contenders in 1 year? But this is what you want and you are going to cry until you get ANSWERS. Problem is, you can't see, you don't know, and it's very hard to understand answers when you have no concept of them.

For clarification, I never said I expected the Raiders make a run at the SB in McKenzie's first year, nor was I on here suggesting they were a lock to win the division.

But with new management and new coaching, which I assumed was an improvement, I fully expected the Raiders to field a competitive team.

Unfortunately, they have not.

If you've read my posts, as opposed to skimming them to find your hook to blast me, you understand that I will reserve final judgement to when the Raiders find the solution.

Until then, my initial observation is that coaching has struggled right along with personnel. Plain and simple, the Raiders are a disaster right now.

Resurrecting the Raiders from their current depth would be a daunting task for even the most experienced combo of GM and HC. I just hope our rookie combo isn’t over their heads.

Allen said they remain determined to run the same scheme on defense (presumably offense too) despite its consistent breakdowns. That line of thinking has failed us before.

Assuming the Raiders plan to draft and sign players to meet their system of offense, there is another hurdle they might have to deal with. Media are reporting the rules committee is contemplating elimination of blocking below the waist. Obviously, that could have profound impact on ZBS.

If such a rule is installed, I hope it doesn’t become another excuse why the Raiders can’t be competitive.
