Raiders v. Chiefs Gameday Thread

Well, a game against the lowly Chiefs with Brady Quinn getting the start...This is about as close to a "sure win" as the Raiders can expect, which means that we should brace ourselves for a game that's closer than we'd expect, given the team's penchant for playing down to the competition. I figure we'll get a nail biter or a blowout. Hopefully the latter. It's time.

I like to see this team blitzing! This is definitely a different product than what we have been forced to watch over the years...times they are a changing!

Just have to get the O-line going. I have seen Carlisle get blown up multiple times.Smith too, Wiz is looking very avg. Penalty on Veldheer on the swing pass to McFadden was pure BS, he never touched the guy. I saw the same thing happen on K.C's long punt return = NO CALL. Saw a blatant holding call on the 'wildcat' play by KC = no call. Have to beat the refs and the Chefs.

We have to get our red zone offense going. This is where McFadden's run game could really be useful.

They did what they had to do, good job, Raiders. Defense was in full attack mode for most of the game, Burris and Wheeler make a very good combo. D-line played well, Kelly still makes errors and he is sitting more. Pat Lee is looking like a solid player, he is a sure tackler. Branch, looked like he was really laying the wood, Houston is playing much better.

Palmer is the leader on Offense and McFadden seemed to be changing up just a bit. I saw him FINALLY cutback, he ran for 8 yrds and took a hit he didn't see. Maybe his vision isn't the greatest and he seems to not like getting the hits he doesn't see coming. He sure seems reluctant to wait and find the hole, he runs scared, IMO.

Saw some bad calls on Offense, saw Palmer kill some plays and then the audible went nowhere. Saw the O-line play much better in the 2nd half. The team took steps forward today, question is, do they feel satisfied or do they want to keep upping their game? It ain't the coaching that will hold them back, it's the players, if they decide to play their asses off, ala Wheeler, Burris, Palmer....the West is still there for the taking.

Is it just me but when we win does everyone round here shut up? Winning seems to make everyone less opinionated as to how to run the team...then keep doing your thang Raiders keep doing ya thang!

Overall, I thought it was one of our better games for both our OLine and DLine. The OLine kept Palmer clean and sprung McFadden. The DLine chased, smashed, and sacked Quinn/Cassell ALL day long.

It was the type of win where all of the units contributed and had their moments to shine.

Still a lot to clean up in terms of red zone efficiency, penalties, drop balls, etc. Nevertheless, a convincing, dominating, much need victory.

RT has to pull out the clown car....make sure it has the Chef's logo on it. Talk about bad coaching, Raider staff is much better than their's and talk about mistakes...glad to see Routt picked them to play for because they would give him the most money....enjoy Stanford.

Jack, didn't the Raiders only have 2 penalties? 1 of them was a phantom block in the back to Veldheer, the other one was a penalty to Seymour who looks like he wants to get in Allen's bad books.

O-line needs a lot of toughening up, they need to play nasty, right now, they are playing patty cake. Carlisle was getting ragdolled by Dorsey, Smith was getting bombed by DB's. Need someone to slap these guys in the face a few times and tell them their wives are screwin the guy they are blocking. Do something to get these guys into a nasty mood before and during game time.

I'm sure by Tuesday there will be a lynchmob for Knapp, saying that Allen coached poorly and seems too slow to make adjustments. Saying that Mark Davis needs to step in and tell Reggie to fire Knapp. To call Hue Jackson and ask him what they should do next.

What else is there to say. Labeled by a guy that can't stand to be labeled himself.

Good show, Jones. It's all yours.

A little sensitive, NYR? Maybe you can get an operation and get a pair? Guess there is only one thing left to do NYR, seeing as you like labels....you have become a fulltime "crew" member, good job. Nothing to say about the Raiders win NYR? Cat got your tongue? Nothing to bash, nothing to say? So you direct your anger at myself? Don't worry, Hue will get a better job next year.

Jones,
You are correct about the penalties. My mistake. Overall, I think the Raiders played a "clean" game limiting the # of mental errors.
