Lions Gamenight Thread

The arrow is not pointing up for the Raiders or Josh McDaniels. I'm afraid that a loss tonight would mean getting stuck with the proverbial fork.

This all starts at the top with Mark Davis, I'm afraid. You just can't be in this situation year after year after year, coach after coach after coach, etc.

Mark Davis hasn't figured out the coaching position, the GM position or the quarterback position during the entirety of his ownership tenure, and he is the head of an organization that has made a sport of laughably bad and awkward draft picks.

This isn't being negative. It's being honest. There's a difference.

There's only one thing to do now, beat the Lions and turn this sorry ship around.

GO RAIDERS!

3 for 8, 31 yards, 0 TDs, 1 Int at halftime is all we need to know about Crapollo and McDaniels. Say what you want about Carr, but letting him walk for this garbage is comparable to Al trading Marcus Allen for Harvey Williams. Both bone headed moves, lets see how long this latest one sets us back. Just Sell,Baby

So far, the Lions giving 7.5 pt spread looks like a good bet. And right on cue, the Raiders offense has no gas. Not a single catch by a WR. On defense, Geoff throws everything underneath the coverage, just like everybody else. Raiders CBs backpedal on every play.

They need to fire McDaniels and Ziegler they have managed to destroy the team in less than a year and a half. Sandy

And Ziegler can't draft to save his life. Completely blew the 7th overall pick. Sandy

McDaniels is garbage he's an awful person I said it from the first day he was hired I knew it was terrible and I set it on this blog. Also getting rid of Carr was just Petty and foolish Sandy

Unfortunately Sandy, I was duped by his press conference. He talked about building to strengths of players and how much he learned, all the right things. In reality, he is still a control freak and has no game management skills as a Head Coach. He has learned nothing from his Dunver days. He is a loser.

Nate, the saddest thing is that he has for the moment destroyed the soul of this team. Even during the darkest days of owls last year's they were the Raiders now they're just crap no soul no spirit except for Maxx. Mark is doing a disservice to his father's memory by waiting to fire him. Sandy

Two teams going in opposite directions.

What the hell has Ziegler and McDaniels been doing the past two years?! This team looks far worse than the one they inherited. Who would have thought we'd be better off with Greg Olsen calling plays than the guy who directed the offense for three super bowl champs and made Mac Jones a pro bowler in his rookie year.

In the face of blitzes, the Raiders send WRs downfield instead of screens and dump-offs to counter the pressure. On defense, they play soft coverage with deep safety(s) and get sliced up with runs and short passes. It's the same thing every week. They have no answers.

Garoppolo missed Adams wide open down the sideline not once but twice. And the endzone INT was on par for the season Garoppolo is having.

Ziegler has missed on almost every personnel decision he's made. He re-signed Carr and Waller to big contracts then moved them out for little to no compensation, and he's trying to do the same with Renfrow. Nobody he's drafted has stepped up, including 4 defensive tackles in two drafts - two of which have already been jettisoned.

The Raiders lack talent, and the play calling is awful. So, again, what the hell have they been doing?!

IMO, sit Garoppolo and see what O'Connell has. The Raiders can't get any worse. Left as is, the Raiders might not win another game. Maybe that's a good thing.

I stopped watching at halftime, but watched the lowlights of the second half this morning. The only good thing was Peters' pick 6, but I still have a beef with Peters.
Marcus Peters does not even attempt to tackle anyone, rather he is constantly trying to strip the ball. Don't get me wrong, I love the effort to strip the ball, but when they are running on you after the catch for 10 to 15 yards, its time to wrap up.
Crapollo has no sense of time, and looks stoic watching his hot WR without checking down, to get sacked another 4 times. Throwing at Davante's feet when he is on a hot slant wide open, throwing at Renfrow's feet when he's wide open, under throwing Adams twice on the long ball, one got picked because the Lions anticipated it. Dude is the worst QB ever, bring back Andrew Walters for godsake.
McDummy has no answers for his own system, for his own guys that he brought in after trading away better talent. This clown has to go. Take, it's time for the clown car, with Mark Davis at the driver's seat.

Guys you know when the lattime the Raiders felt this hopeless was when they had Kiffin as coach and drafted Jamarcus. The similarities are spooky, get rid of Carr and bring in Jimmy G who is awful and a fraud of a coach. Also McDaniels has basically repeated exactly what he did in Denver chased away cutler and drafted Tebow.

In my mind of who may be available to hire there are only two men who could restore the spirit of the Raiders and turn this ting around. Harbaugh and David Shaw.

Meet the 2023/24 Raiders,

Jimmy Crappolio at Qb...crap offense...crap defense...crap head coach...crap coaching staff...crap owner.

It's all "JUST CRAP BABY"!!!

Actually, the 9ers went to playoff's and a super bowl with Jimmy G. Don't know how they did it.

And is the point of offense to get Devonte Adams as many touches each game, or to get as many players as possible involved in offense each game ? In any event, as usual, Raiders have failed to do both.

Sandy, I compare it to the year before Kiffin and JaBustas, when we had Randy Moss and Aaron Brooks at QB and couldnt do crap because Brooks couldnt throw down field which caused Moss to quit on the team. I dont think Adams will quit because he has too much pride in himself, and that is the only difference. McDummy is Norv Turner reincarnated.

Hey Raidernation! lets pray for the victims in the war and lets pray for the victims in the other war in the Ukraine!

Get your medications and vitamins for the flu and if you think you need one, get another check up now or before the new year!

Make sure to be tested for diseases and health issues and get the medical help you need if they find some kind of health problem.

* The new Raiders didn't want anything to do with ANYBODY connected to Al Davis! They felt they knew the game and who could help the Raiders win!

MD isn't the problem he can't be because:

1. MD doesn't make team decisions.

2. he doesn't 'meddle' and lets his front office run the team.

3. he doesn't fire his coaches fast.

Why should he have to SELL his team? he did everything you fans wanted and some of you think he should sell his team!

You want to blame an owner for any problems you blame Al! Jerry Jones or others who 'meddle' MD doesn't make decisions.

As for the '23 season the Raiders weren't interested in winning and showed us by not making any big trades before the deadline. They'll make money and they play in a city that has big money to give away!

The SUPER BOWL is one of the biggest events in the world and may be one of the biggest money makers in NFL history!

They can now get investors from corporations and billionaires in the NFL, they can make up shows in L.V. made by the NFL for fan entertainment, they can sell millions in NFL merchandise; the casinos, hotels and L.V. entertainment events may make big profits because of the SB and the celebrities that might go to L.V. during the SB might bring in more fans and help the NFL make money and help the media make more money and cover more events with some stars helping NFL/ L.V. events get more PR and even social media may have people who work in it making more money trying to cover the SB/ celebrities.

But as for the Raiders?:

This is why they were moved to L.V. so the NFL could have a SB where they know they will make big money!

But why are they so focused on everything but the game? you don't believe they aren't trying to win?

You defended every new regime that has come to the Raiders saying they are a better regime than Al's and it was good to make changes. But these regimes and those opinions have done nothing but seen this team become a mess!

You give excuses and try to blame Al and talk Patriots'/ NFL way talk but when it comes to reasons for the losing you don't have any.

The NFL isn't like Al, J. Jones, 49ers and a few others, they are about money not wins, they don't like the Davis family's Raiders and really want a L.V. SB and may not be worried about the team's future.

What we aren't doing is looking at the situation. Fans want to win and see the team return to glory but don't think MD should work alone and use Al's people they think the losing is bad decisions instead of revenge and not caring about the team.

Now you want to see maybe new stake holders helping MD, I don't think that is a good idea yet!

I think maybe that's what a lot of people want but I don't think that's good for Raidernation! We need to stick with the Davis family and look at who wants the changes maybe they aren't really good for the team!

The team doesn't win because they aren't focusing on it and losing only helps the NFL look good wanting to help the Raiders make more changes.

And the final results are in... McDaniels AND Ziegler Fired!

Indeed, well deserved! They could not have done a worse job across the board: assistant coaches, player personnel, scheme, play-calling, on-field decision making, it all sucked! These guys jettisoned Derek Carr and gave us Jimmy G! We could reminisce about many bad decisions but for me, McDaniels going for a FG when he needed a TD encapsulates his tenure with the Raiders. Stupid is as stupid does!

The problem the Raiders (fans!) now face is that Mark Davis is once again in charge of finding their replacements. He's up to six different head coaches since taking over, matching his Dad's failures over about the same number of years prior.

Interesting that Antonio Pierce leapfrogged both coordinators to become interim HC. Davis did the same thing with Bisaccia over Olsen and Bradley. Once upon a time, Pierce was part of a relentless Giants defense. Hopefully, we will see an immediate change in the Raiders soft read and react defense.

On offense, rumors are leaning toward replacing Garoppolo with O'Connell. Sad truth is, the Raiders probably don't have a quality starter on their roster.

But who are we kidding? Looking ahead, Raiders season is trashed. The players know it, the fans know it, the league knows it. Best case scenario is to lose out and select from a deep QB draft class in 2024. The combination of Pierce as interim HC with certain lame ducks Lombardi and Graham as coordinators might be bad enough to get that done.

The Raiders are so pathetic at this moment it's actually laughable. Perhaps it's a nervous laugh because it's not really funny.

I guess, for others, let the rejoicing begin. Ding-dong the witch is dead.

Under McZiegler, the Raiders were grossly mismanaged and under-coached. Maybe over-coached if you consider the ridiculous micromanaging of McDaniels.

Consider these as only scratching the surface.

Chandler Jones! Who apparently the Raiders knew had issues.
Big contracts to Carr and Waller only to release or trade them away for peanuts.
Signing Jimmy G then finding out he needed surgery.
Disappearance of Hunter Renfrow.
The blown double-digit leads.
Jacobs going from a rushing title to a gutter dweller.

The list goes on and on.

And we have a second interim HC in less than three seasons.

Unfortunately, the dysfunction and poor decision making are part of the culture that Mark Davis contributes to and must still contend with. This isn't over by a long shot.

At least Mark didn't wait to pull the trigger. Let's move on who do you want to see as the next coach. I've said this before my choices are Jim harbaugh, David shaw, and as a third choice Deion Sanders but only if he's bringing his son the quarterback with him. Sandy

Mark Davis has got to stop making the same mistakes over and over.

Ziegler was never a real NFL GM. He made recommendations to Belichick about draft picks, but Belicheck made all final decisions.

And McDaniels could draw up any game plan he wanted, but once game started, the game was in Tom Brady's hands.

Mark Davis needs to find a strong evaluator of talent to build up the Raiders roster. They are hard to come by in the NFL. It's like finding the needle in the hay stack.

So the two clowns have been booted from the circus tent, but the ringmaster still remains.

YES!!!! THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!! OH MY GOD, I THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE TO SUFFER THE REST OF THIS SEASON WITH THIS NOOB! NOW TO TRADE CRAPOLLO. WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CORRECT SOME MISTAKES. MD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING BACK REGGIE MCKENZIE AS GM, AND RICH BISACCIA. BUT HE ALSO HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING IN A COACH WHO WILL SCHEME TO THE STRENGTHS OF THE ROSTER. IF THEY STICK WITH O'CONNELL, I'D BRING BACK BILL MUSGRAVE AS OC OR HC. I'M READY TO RUN THROUGH A BRICK WALL! I MAY EVEN PUT MY NAME IN FOR GM!
JUST WON, BABY!!!!

Raiders should have been on the phone yesterday with the Vikings, who needed a veteran QB. Too late now!

Bigger picture, I don't see this as some great liberation. IMO, the Raiders are just entering another phase of dysfunction. Mark Davis will find another way to shoot the Raiders in the foot.

Perhaps the big revelation with the dual firing is that Davis will be eating any guarantees in HC and GM contracts. But make no mistake, Davis is flush since his new stadium and the LV destination ticket purchasers by fans of opposing teams.
