Both Raider lines are getting pushed around. Pathetic. Sandy

Jacobs with 8 carries and -3 yards tells you all you need to know about the game. Forcing Jimmy G to throw is how teams will beat Raiders and why we will be lucky to win 4 games. Horrible showing. Meanwgile, Raiders continue to make Renfrow a ghost.

Let's face it the new regime has invested very little in the lines which shows up in a game like this. Sandy

NO its not pathetic at all!

Its' the fact that the NFL/ owners continue to have some say in this team and they don't want a lot of big spending on stars or to make any trades or to get advise other than NFL people who may want the Raider's front office to just look good enough to play other NFL teams!

Why? how many times have I and you sometimes, asked why are the Raiders looking for average guys and not stars.

Well, some of us or the media said because

1. Al did it and it ruined the Raiders

2. Because its' something Bellichick did and the Patriots are a dynasty.

STARS NY Raider, other Anon and Raider Nate! why would you spend on above average to good players instead of on star free agents?

Right! it kinda doesn't make sense unless you don't want the Raiders to have those kind of players!

Its' Raidernation that is supporting haters!

You want to think they want to help the Raiders they don't

and why would you not want an NFL team to win now?

Is there something they want to do to or for the Raiders before they back them?

The Raiders are a 'brand' now and they would be great for a new stake holder to put money into! does Raidernation want to see more changes in Raiders?

Are the new regimes trying to win or just build decent team for some other reasons?

GOOOOOOO Raiders we can turn it around before the season is over!!

So, what do we do now?

After a fantastic, well-scripted first drive, the Raiders were grossly overmatched the rest of the game. No run blocking by the O-line, and no pressure from the defensive front. Mostly zone coverage, with the Bills taking everything the Raiders gave them underneath.

Van Roten can drop the "Van" and add another "T" to Roten. Tyree Wilson disappeared for his second game in a row to start his pro career. Spillane is the only player who put in a decent game (2 weeks in a row).

Clearly, the Raiders are not as bad as they played today, but where do they go from here? Not sure how Zeigler and McDaniels process this game.

The NFL owners had nothing to do with that game, nor did they assemble the Raiders team. Give me a break!

Why are you guys turning on the Pats' guys when other fans claimed they weren't gonna do much more than the others if not worse?

Now, you are attacking their draft moves!

Dudes....you can't possibly be so naive as to think these guys couldn't do at least a decent job of building an allegedly already talented team and from working with coach Bellichick.

These guys are being advised by the owners NOT TO win right now!

Oh yes the owners are tampering with the Raiders. The owners have a place in Raiders HQ and you wanted it!

You had the most iconic and genius guy in NFL history and you got so upset about losing that you supported his enemies ruining his team!

And now they seem to be doing something I don't think is good for the team!

They don't seem to want the Raiders to win now(allegedly) and they seem to want the team to bring in more new business people and they don't want the team to spend big on STAR free agent vets.

Why?

Raiders just can't keep striking out in draft after draft.

Picking apparent losers with most every first round pick. It looks to me that since McDaniels & Zeigler have arrived, talent on Raiders roster has actually been down graded.

How can they take a bad defense...and make it worse ! Downgrade QB position. Downgrade Linebacker position. Downgrade both DL & OL.

Things aint getting better, they're getting worse.

Talent is a real concern. But one way to compensate for failings of the past is better coaching. So far, that's missing too.

But I'm not hitting the panic button yet. One game in Buffalo is enough to make any decent team question its resolve.

Ghost there has been some talent downgrade at QB and D line since 2021. It has been upgraded at WR and offensive line has not been addressed during either regime. The real problem is what NY says coaching. How did Hunter Renfrow go from Pro Bowler to one target in two games? Gus Bradley did not have a great roster but he coached the players well enough to keep the Raiders in games. McDaniels is awful always has been. Such an unispiring coach. It is a little early to judge the drafting but Wilson looks like a huge whiff especially considering Jalen Carter is playing a t a Pro Bowl level and Christian Gonzalen looks like a CB1.

Very demoralizing the Raiders have a handful of elite players and bunch of young unkowns and then the rest of the roster is pathetic. Its kind of a no mans land.

There's a meme floating around the Internet that could not be truer. Basically, it's a cartoon fan holding a sign each year that reads...

2020 - "fix the defense"
2021 - "fix the defense"
2022 - "fix the defense"
2023 - "fix the defense"

The Raiders continue to neglect what seems so obvious to the fans. Defense!

After many drafts and many free agent signings, Maxx Crosby is the only star player they have on defense. Dude is all by himself.

One writer said the Raiders either need to get better players or Patrick Graham needs to be more aggressive with his scheme. His "soft-man" and zone coverages are allowing teams to control the game, and the score.

Tonight we get to see Derek Carr's progression in another system. Jimmy G has not proven he's an upgrade from Carr, and some pundits see him only as a game manager when all is working properly, not a QB who can win games when all systems fail, like they did yesterday. Of course, McDaniels was still trying to establish a ground game in the 4th Qtr down by 3 TDs. So it's not entirely Jimmy G.

The lack of competitiveness in the Bills game was stunning. If things don't change, fans will be erecting billboards for Zeigler and McDaniels.

I don't know if you are all paying attention to Chandler Jones, but he tweeted out yesterday that he's not playing because he was trying to stop people from raping his underage God-daughter.
If that is true, and he has not reported this to the proper authorities, then he is just as guilty. Especially since there is a tweet that he sent out that basically said he'd keep silent as long as he is let back on the field.
If this is true, then this is BIG news, and he needs to hire an attorney and press charges against the organization. Just crazy stuff!
If this is not true, then this story just keeps becoming more bizaare.

The thing that stands out to me is that nobody on the team is saying anything about Jones, nor revolting about how the Raiders are handling it. Jones must be communicating with Crosby and others on the team, and nobody is publicly suggesting the Raiders have done anything wrong.

Whatever happened. it appears Jones is responsible for his actions that has at least temporarily cost him a spot on the team. It's a real shame because I was counting on Jones to make a comeback. Dude had 19 sacks in one season just a few years ago.

Apparently, PFF gave Tyree Wilson the lowest game grade for the second week in a row. Either this kid is still nursing his college injury or he is truly a draft miss in terms of plug-n-play top-10 pick. From what I saw, he was getting handled by Bills O-linemen. Ferrell looked better after he was drafted.

Raiders offense had ball for only 20 minutes of game. Bills controlled ball for 40 minutes.

Josh Allen had only 5 incomplete passes for entire game.

So as Raiders fell further behind, offense becomes desperate, and gets forced into mistakes.

Sandy, can't let Zeigler off the hook for blame. He has 2 drafts under his belt, what do Raiders have to show ??

Hmmmm, C Jones, AB, Aldon Smith, Gruden debacle. Anyone else seeing a trend here? It looks like Mark has a bullseye on his back. Goodell isn't going to stop until Mark is gone, IMO. For a guy to say he has this kind of dirt on Mark and then says he won't tell if he is allowed to play? It's beyond absurd and anyone taking C Jones side on this, needs to get their head's examined too.

Raiders were in a very tough spot yesterday. 2nd game on the road, as far east coast as they can get. The Qb lost his fav WR, Jakobi and still looks as though he has very little chemistry beyond Adams, probably due to lack of time together in the off season. Jacobs is looking very avg and still has a ways to go to regain his form. Bills were in a must win situation, as much of a must win in just the 2nd game. Refs doing their part and the odds of a Raider win was very slim. Raiders still tied for 1st and with a very winnable game at home Sunday Night.

Tyree Wilson has not played much football the last couple of yrs. He is coming off a major injury. Raiders will have to have patience with him. The C Jones debacle has put too much on the kid, too soon. Context is a wonderful thing.

"Z's 1st draft started in the 3rd round"... Shouldn't Raider fans expect Zeigler to find talent all throughout the draft ?

"Refs doing their part"...Raiders had only 2 penalties for entire game. Chiefs had 12 flags, but still managed to win tough road game against good team.

1:52 PM
Blogger nyraider said...

I'm not giving a pass to the refs for only flagging the Raiders 2x (or whatever it was). They botched an obvious interference by the Bills DB on a sideline pass.

Also, the illegal hands to the face call against Hobbs was ticky-tacky at best. Hobbs barely touched the guy's mask, which I'm sure happens on every play (just like Crosby gets held every play). That reversed an INT by Teamer.

Those two calls badly hurt the Raiders, IMO, and probably helped deflate them into submission.

If the Raiders are truly better this year, then what doesn't kill them will make them stronger. It will be incredibly important to bounce back at home against the Steelers.

NYR...The Raiders lost by 4 touchdowns. Hard to believe a couple of bad calls made much of a difference.

Raiders offense had ball for only 20 minutes of game. Raiders defense is so bad, they cannot get off the field.

Chiefs overcame 12 penalties to win a tough road game.

Yes, Maxx Crosby is held a lot, but he is also double team blocked a lot because he has no help on the defense.

Maybe you're right and all will be better next week vs Steelers. But I have a feeling Kenny Pickett is going to look like Joe Montana against the putrid Raiders defense.

Ghost you are correct worst D in the league yesterday. I am holding Ziegler accountable he has not signed one decent free agent Jakoby Myers pending and the Wilson drafting seems like a disaster given they could have taken Carter. Our second round pick Myers hasn't shown anything either it's a little early to get down on him but the team could have certainly picked some players ready to play given the high skilled veterans on the roster. Ghost the deficit wasn't 4 TDs when those things happened. The margin for error playing in Buffalo is razor thin. If those plays go the Raiders way (as they should have), the game might have been a little competitive, and we wouldn't all have a knot the size of a grapefruit in our stomachs.

After two games there's already a sense of urgency.

Coincidentally, the Raiders get to watch their opponent on MNF for the second week in a row. Obviously, that didn't help last week.

Here's an observation. McDaniels has scripted plays and scored on opening drives far better than Gruden. Unfortunately, the end results aren't any better... actually, worse!

4:37 PM
Blogger nyraider said...

What the Raiders learned on MNF is that the Steelers are another team with a swarming and opportunistic defense (which scored 2 TDs last night). Their offense is suspect, but they haven't played the Raiders defense yet.

It's anybody's guess.

Hey, what's going on!!

We are getting our asses kicked on the field and now a guy who hasn't been with us two years all of a sudden knows whats' going on in the offices of the Raiders' HQ?

What would he be doing hanging around? how did he find out? It sounds very strange and it sounds as if the media or somebody can't wait for more negative or bad news from the Raiders' HQ or- that maybe the Raiders have something going on and its' not a good idea to have players/ people hanging around Raiders' HQ, if its about a kid and players/ people hanging around Raiders' HQ it needs to be investigated; and if there are places were visitors can walk around but there are problems with people walking around Raiders HQ. it might very serious or something that can be dealt with by NFL and Raiders.

IMO, the Chandler Jones thing has hurt the Raiders badly this season. Jones was just placed on 4-week IR (non-injury). Wilson clearly isn't ready for the nuance of playing edge. His best chance of making a contribution this season was to be placed in pass rush situations which he could pin his ears back and go.

Jones is (or was) one of the best edge defenders in the league. Jones to IR is a huge setback for the Raiders. He's out at least 4 weeks... but more likely, he's done as a Raider.

NY never mind Wilson who clearly is not ready to be on the field in any capcity is there any Raider rookie you see making an impact this year? Two games in so we can not judge yet but let's review. 1) Wilson awful especially compared to Carter on Philly or Gonzalex on NE. 2) Mayer has one catch for 2 yards. 3) Byron Young zero tackles 4) Trey Tucker a nice en around looks like he has serious speed 0 catches 5) Jakorian Bennett has been torched and is one of the worst rated starting cb 6) the rest have not played a down

Pharnham looks mediocre and seems to get overwhelmed physically at times

Free agents signed under the new regime 1) Jones a waste of money even when he was playing 2) Meyers looked great in 1st game 3) Tillery awful 4) Van Roten is rotten what a cheap ass signing that was 5) Jakob a full back who seems like a good blocker no big deal 6) Peters past his prime at best 7) Epps physical but terrible in pass coverage 8) Nicholas is horrendous 8) Jimmy G for sure a step back from Carr can not throw deep hence why the box has been stacked against Jacobs 9) Adams a superstar

So one great player so far. I guess you get what you pay for.

I could go on but why bother

Sandy,

I don't entirely disagree but I'm not yet in the place you are. Starting with Jones, nobody could have guessed he would regress last year and be in the distress he is in now.

In terms of rookies, it's early but you might end up being right about Carter. IDK. However, I think Bennett and Tucker both look decent. Bennett is learning a very tough position on the fly. He has skills, including at the LOS protecting the run... something not all CBs learn or can do. Mayer will come around. Dude was lights out for ND. Little chance he's a bust. Wilson not so much. But even Arden Key has turned a corner. Wilson looks bigger and more athletic than Key. We'll see. Byron Young and the other late round DT could easily fall the direction of the previous year's two DT draftees. Raiders need to figure out the middle of their D-line.

In terms of free agents, Spillane is pretty solid. Epps played on a better team, surrounded by better players (probably every FA signed by the Raiders can say that). Marcus Peters is the Raiders best CB. Perhaps not as consistent as he once was, but he is sticky and smart. Tillery was a bust, then the Raiders signed him to a big contract. That's inexplicable. He's a one-trick pony and he's not even good at that. Too many stupid mistakes.

The O-line, as a whole, has failed to run block, epically, after blocking Jacobs to an NFL rushing title. That's bizarre! But as bad as they've been at run blocking, they have been opposite at pass blocking, which places 3 INTs on Jimmy G, who tends to throw too late in those instances. He does not have Carr's arm.

Jakobi Meyers looked amazing in his only game. Davante Adams is all-world, and too good to be on the Raiders during this struggling period. My prediction is, if and when they can truly use his talent to become a playoff contender, they will stupidly figure out a way to get rid of him. Hate to say it, they might have been better off with the two draft picks.

Lol, you're getting impatient like me. 20 years and counting is too long for the Raiders to suck!

Final thought. I'm sick of the excuses why Renfrow isn't part of the offense. Either play him or trade him. He didn't even get targets when Meyers was out. Raiders need to spread the ball out more. They are again becoming predictable on offense and defense. They need better coaching!

New York I agree with you it's too early to draw conclusions on this year's draft class. However it remains to be seen if Ziegler can surprise the very low bar set by Mike Mayock at least Mike Mayock would hit a home run in between six strikeouts in a row. Sandy

Some weird things happening in the NFL, not just with Chandler Jones now being place on the 4 Week IR with a "non injury"; but the Bears DC resigned this week stating "health concerns." This was 2 days after the FBI raided his home. The FBI also reported they raided his office at the Bears' HQ; but the Bears have denied that FBI agents raided their HQ.
Why would the FBI raid a Defensive Coordinator's home and office? Well, that is the question. Even more bizaare is former Bears' Safety, Charles Tillman, was one of the FBI Officers.

Media spun a comment from McDaniels about Tillery and thinks he's a blessing that every team would want. Not much meat on that bone. He has posted 4 tackles (3 are assists) in 2 games. He also has another critical penalty (offsides on 4th down!). The Raiders are still paying this guy hundreds of thousands of dollars per tackle. Maybe the most lopsided return on investment in the NFL, except for Aaron Rodgers.

8 games last season, Tillery had 7 tackles and no sacks. So I guess he's improved.

But don't insult us with "every team needs a Jerry Tillery."

IMO, Raiders need to play more aggressively on both sides of the ball tonight, particularly on defense. Soft man and zone coverages aren't working, and they didn't work last season. It only works when you improve talent, and the Raiders have failed to do that in any material way.

The offense is underwhelming, despite all its talent.

Raiders have been under-coached since McDaniels and Graham arrived. They are both guilty of overthinking and should just play more aggressively to offset their own shortcomings.

Time for the Raiders to wake up. The Raiders are the NFL's version of Rip Van Winkle.
