It's Draft Time (Yawn)!

That was a unique perspective drawn by Hue. At least we know that we have a bona fide starter with our first pick, lol! Let's hope that he can play at that top-level for several more years....

Although I haven't paid too much attention to draft prospects this off season (either), how do you think the Raiders should go with their "2nd" @ 48? Are they parting with Nnamdi after all?

Last time we were without a first rounder - according to Steve Corkran - was in '89 when we picked up the Wiz in the 2nd round. Perhaps a history repeat with Wiz-2? We need to protect Campbell... but I keep hearing buzzings about QB Colin Kaepernick out of Nevada. Project QB or starting C/G? Do we have enough quality DBs without our beloved Nnamdi? Hmmm...

I think I'd be more inclined for Wiz-2 being coached up by Wiz-1. As Monte Poole stated, we have a void at center. A center to "QB" the line might be what'll get us over .500 - provided we have a season.

Beyond that, I am clueless.

What makes this hard is that there's not one standout area of need. O-Line, D-Line and CB all need serious attention, I believe. QB is right there, too. That's a lot of needs.

We were ranked 29th in rushing defense last year. That is horrible. If Nnamdi goes, CB is a big concern. O-Line, well, here we go again.

Then there's QB. Am I confident that Campbell or any of our other guys can take us to the top for a sustained period? No. Is it possible? I guess. But it's a longshot. It's a QB league, which is why the majority of top teams have elite QBs.

Sigh.

I'm hoping for 0-line, or D-Tackle help with our picks.

But yeah, it will probably be the fastest CB available.

I think we actually have the personnel on the D front. They man-up well at the point of attack for several plays. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
WH--IFFF! They suddenly forget the basics, over-pursue, or just plain whiff a tackle.

Yeah, it's a QB-driven league alright. But we haven't grown a QB-draftee well since Stabler. And that's some serious whiffing! I keep holdin' onto hope that we land that diamond in-the-rough, though. Who DOESN'T need too much polishing. I'd been kinda hoping that Colt Brennan was that guy...

'00 - who is the fastest CB, BTW?

lil' Wiz, Baby!

the last time we didn't have a first round pick was in 1989, and our first pick was Big Wiz in the 2nd round.

Kinda seems like destiny.....

I like the moniker "li'l Wiz" better than "Wiz-2", Mosh.

I guess the fasted CB is DeMarcus Van Dyke? A 4.28 40, but "projected" to the 4th or 5th round.

The 9ers just moved up to 36 and took Kaepernick.

My dvr hit a bad spot and during Wiznewski's pick....

did Gruden say he was run out of Oakland?

That makes 4 out of the last 5 of our first picks I guessed (Mayock was the only one who called it withDHB).

I hope Wiz starts at Center and we get someone for him to hike the ball to. If I had to bet, I would say he ends up starting at guard.

But I sure would love to see, left to right:
Veldheer,
Gallery,
Wiz,
Bruce/?,
?/Bruce

The question is, who's the question mark? And the grasp/hope is that Bruce Cambell(?sp) steps it up and learns to play football.

as far as researching the draft goes, I'm like most I'm assuming: Happy to not be in the 'lottery' section of the draft, and kind of burned out on drafting in the top 5 for so many years. Nice to take a break.

Plus, you have to research SOO many more players when you're drafting in the teens. And at 48, you've got ALOT of research to do.

Wisniewski makes sense to me, but he's a legacy (slightly removed) and that pick was going to happen regardless of talent.

Honestly, I was pretty excited when I saw the Raiders drafted him. He has tremendous potential to fill a void that's existed since Robbins went AWOL.

The real head scratcher for me is trading next year's 2nd round pick to NE for a 3 and 4 this year.

Is there somebody in NE that has a spell over Al Davis?

Can't we get (David) Bowie back in uniform?

And what's up with drafting the fastest player...again? Every draft, there's always one pick (wasted or not) based solely on speed.

Let's hope there's football talent to go with that blazing speed.

Raiders fumbled Day 3 by selecting two inexperienced WRs when really what they need is one dependable vet; and they added a RB to an already loaded backfield.

How many WRs and RBs do they plan on keeping on their roster?

After Day 2, it took them until the sixth round to again draft a position of need; TE.

I knew last year's draft brilliance was too good to be true. Without judging the players drafted, I'd say the Raiders severely lost sight of team priorities on Day 3.

Someone asked, "did Gruden say he was run out of Oakland?"

That's exactly what he said.

It's really hard to believe he remains so loyal to the Raiders, even despite the "Ricky's treatment."

We were both correct on this years draft but I said if he is still on the board...Last season both my picks were already gone..."CB" -n- "S"...The season before that I wasn't even projecting "WR" in the 1st...Didn't like "CrapFree" nor anyone else...I was good on "JeBustus" -n- "D-Mac"...I would now like to have one of those picks back...

Several fans were projecting "OLB" but I'm glad we didn't go that direction..."CB" was my second choice and that was filled in the 3rd...

I like this draft..We targeted areas of need and have some good potential...I would have liked to have the "QB" from NV" though...Haven't looked yet to see where he went or when...Been off the wire until now for the better part of a month...

More to come after some rest and time to scour the records to see who what where...

I'm happy about Lil Wiz. It will be very interesting to see how he does with Uncle Wiz coaching him. I didn't follow the draft, research our picks but it seems rather odd that we didn't add any players to improve our run D and LB/DL depth. At this point, I'm still waiting for the CBA mess to get cleaned up before I sink more than a couple minutes to the new season.

I will look at the players and evaluate them but that's about 2 days playing time on the net...After which what the hell else is there to look at!!!...

If Asomugha goes and we remain intent on trying to solve our run defense issues with prayers and unicorn tears, then it's possible our defense could get lit up like a Christmas tree this year.

But if our CBs can rally, our LB corps can mature and our D-Line can somehow tighten up, hopefully we can avoid that fate.

Raiders are banking their D personnel was better than their D coaching in 2010.

However, Chuck Bresnahan as DC doesn't give me a lot of confidence that the defense will improve. His resume over the past several years speaks for itself.

Plus, there is a near certainty of losing two solid starters from the secondary in Huff and Asomugha.

On the other side, a transition to a much younger and mostly inexperienced OL may seriously stunt our offense (at least at first).

Worse, the probable struggles of new coaching and inexperience can only be magnified by the CBA BS.

These are ALL things yet to be determined, but those aren't odds I'd put my money down on beating.

"a transition to a much younger and mostly inexperienced OL may seriously stunt our offense"...

Damn!!...After all the tears regarding past neglect of the "OL" and now more tears because we have addressed the issue threw the draft...With good young talent I might add plus the additions from last season who are no longer rookies and may actually get a chance to start...That's 4 possible new faces on a "OL" that was belittled to death by you as you struck out at both Gallery and Walker...Now you fear they don't play???....

WoW!!...The tears flow no mater what transpires...

"Worse, the probable struggles of new coaching and inexperience"...

Now your crying because we no longer have Cable who you belittled to death...

"Raiders are banking their D personnel was better than their D coaching in 2010"....

YES!!!...And so am I and most of the Raider Nation!!!...

"Chuck Bresnahan as DC doesn't give me a lot of confidence that the defense will improve"...

Now you shed more tears for Marshal who failed to get the job done and you were far less than happy with...And your memories are very vague as the last time the Raider fielded a winning team it was with Bresnahan as "DC"...3 seasons in a row AFCW Champs...We now have the same "DL" coach and the return of Rod Woodson to help our secondary...The return of Biekert to help the "LB"s...Than on the other side there is that "Wiz" guy helping his counterpart and the rest of our "OL" get real NASTY!!!...Like before and all you can do is CRY!!!...

"RT"...

All indications have pointed toward the return on Nam...He voiced his desire to finish what he was involved in and NO other team has shown any interest even before the CBA meltdown....I very seriously expect his return and $$$'s are the only issue to resolve...Expect "MrD" to anti-up after Nam has had the opportunity to test the market and decide what he wants to do...

Huff is Huff and whether he returns or not will not be a huge issue to me...Same can be said for Galery and the too losses would result in compensation in next season's draft...Both high 1st rd picks so maybe we get that 2nd rd pick back that we traded away to "NE" for the 3rd -n- 4th rd picks in this class...

As for the Run "D" we have all agreed it's a matter of gap control more than a matter of personnel...Get the players we field to play together as a unit and take care of business and we will improve...How much is yet to be seen but the time has come to stop the bleeding or at least constrict it to a drip instead of a "Flood Gate"...

If this "O" can consistently produce the Run will no longer be a huge issue as teams are forced to abandon the run and go to the air or lose by default and not every team can run on us...Like "SF"...They ran late because we never scored any points...The few teams who beat up on our Run "D" were strong running teams like Tenn/Houston/Pitts/Jacks....Than late Indy did us the same when we failed to score points just like against Miami and "SF"...

In my opinion most of those 8 losses were avoidable..."AZ"/"SF"/Miami/Indy/Houston/Jacks/Indy if our "O" had moved the ball or the "K" hit his mark...Pitts/Tenn are the only teams that ripped us open and did that very damn well I might add...Especially when we started a rookie at "C" and "JC" at "QB" when he didn't even understand the play book yet...

Now look at this schedule...We open away against weak teams...Den-n-Buffalo...That gives us an edge...Than we have 2 tough home games against the Jets-n-"NE"...We have a great chance of posting a winning schedule at the Bye...

Hue Jackson Loves the Oakland Raiders 2011 NFL Draft 1st Round Pick

Question Raised: Was the trade worth it...I have to agree with the following take on that point while "RT" has maintained it was wasted...
________________________________

Absolutely. I want to take you back because, you’re right. A lot of people say we didn’t have a first round draft pick, but we really felt like we did because obviously we got to retain the services of Richard Seymour who we traded for and we felt we had the best first round draft pick in the draft. I feel very good about him and where he’s headed.

There certainly is no denying that the Raiders have by far the most productive first round selection, but that's not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about if the trade was worth it. It's something I've avoided, because I just really have no idea how to judge it. There is way too much gray area. Seymour was on the last year of his deal when the Raiders traded for him. Who's to say they wouldn't have signed him? And with the money they've given him I think there is a pretty good chance they would have. But who knows? Maybe there is no way he would have signed here.

It is pretty clear he wasn't going to be re-signed by New England. That is why they were willing to trade him. With no ties to the Raiders, and the team still under the purple drank cloud Seymour may have avoided them like their QB avoided sobriety.

For the Patriots part, they essentially traded one year of Richard Seymour for Nate Solder. From that point of view you'd have to say that it was worth it for the Pats. However, I'm not sure the strategy was sound. They could have franchised or brought back Seymour last year in an uncapped year, and he very well may have been a big enough presence on D to get them to the Super Bowl. But I don't care about the Pats and their now perpetual pretty good machine. Back to the Raiders.

Okay, so the Raiders traded a pick that ended up being Nate Solder for Richard Seymour. The same Richard Seymour they may or may not have been able to acquire for last season anyway. But while the Pats can view this as a Seymour for Solder deal the Raiders cannot. Had they never traded for Seymour they would have been picking way higher than No. 17.

Here is where judging this pick gets into headache inducing time travel logic loops. And ultimately that is what makes me say the pick was a success. I like where this team is. Especially in light of where it was pre-Dick.

Had Seymour never arrived would Tommy Kelly have got himself in shape? Would Matt Shaughnessy have developed into a quality DE? Would LaMarr Houston had as productive rookie season? I think it is safe to assume Seymour contributed at least in part to all of this.

And then there is the impact he has made on the field. Seymour was downright dominant for stretches last year. And when you are that good the team you play on is going to start to adopt at least parts of your personality. This team is light years ahead of where it was from when he got here. I am not sure how much of that is due to him, but I do know at least part of it is due to him, and I am not going back in time to step on the butterfly.

If the Raiders were in a position to make this trade again I would want them to do make it 100 times out of 100. Now go out there and make me proud in a non-contract post lockout year Seymour.

Why "DVD" in the 3rd???...

We took him because I sent Rod Woodson down to University of Miami to work this young man out. The speed at the combine got our attention, watching video got our attention, but Rod went down and came back and said, ‘Hue, this guy can do it.’ He said, ‘This guy has the hips, he has the feet, he has the wherewithal, and he has the smarts to go with cover receivers, and he understands the game.’ So I’m taking this advice from a Hall of Famer, somebody who has done it in this league at a very high level, who told me without a shadow of a doubt that this young man can get it done. I believe in our coaches and so that is the decision we made.

Onto Chekwa:

He’s very physical, loves to play man coverage, loves to put his hands on you and that’s the way we play. We’re going to line up and challenge every receiver in the National Football League because that’s what we love to do. We’ve got two young players that are going to give us an opportunity to do that.

According to KHTK-TV in Phoenix, the Cardinals have targeted Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton.

The TV station cited a team source in reporting Thursday that the Cardinals have reached out to the Broncos about the availability of the six-year veteran, who's scheduled to start ahead of Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn.

The Cardinals and Broncos haven't had serious discussions, according to the source, because Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb is still No. 1 on the Cardinals' wish list. The Broncos believe the Cardinals are interested in Orton as their "Plan B" in case a deal for Kolb cannot be completed.

Now further simplify that take...

What selection at #17 would change that Run "D" in 2011 and what will our Run "D" be in 2011 without that player on the team...

Quantify your stance with more than the superficial speculation that our Run "D" Deficiency is all Rich's fault....

What share of the pie rests on the shoulders of the "DC"s sense removed and the "DC" newly reappointed.....

What share rests with the "DL" coach reappointed last season and the ones who failed before him...

How do the "LB"s share in that responsibility and the prior "LB" coaches and how might Biekert settle that situation in 2011...

Rod Woodson was strong against the run so what will he potentially bring to this "D" in 2011...

So in simplified language how would one mid round selection in the 2011 draft be expected to turn around an ailing Run "D" that has plagued us for almost a decade???...

I endorsed the Seymour trade when we made it and I like it 2 years later. The trade and what we did in the 2011 draft are 2 separate issues. Drafting a big interior DL, a WLB, a SLB, and even an additional SS for the purpose of (1) competition (2) depth (3) and most importantly, shoring up our subpar rush D should have been a priority over speedy CBs and WRs.

10:48 AM
Blogger nyraider said...

Trading a 1st round pick for anybody is questionable. However, the Raiders are (were) incapable of duplicating the tremendous draft they had last year; so it's easy to argue that Seymour is better than any pick they would have made at #17.

Unfortunately, he can't improve the run D by himself. He needs a better scheme and better game-planning. I don't see him getting either with Davis/Bresnahan as DC.

3:23 PM
Blogger Raider Take said...

So far, Seymour hasn't helped us even achieve a winning record, nor has his presence appreciably helped our abysmal run defense.

Does that mean I think he's a bum? No. But was he the right guy, at the right time, at the right cost? Not sure about that.

For all I know, there was a franchise quarterback to be had in this year's first round. It's possible that DT Nick Fairley could have been a vital cog in our D-Line for many years to come. We'll never know, will we?

Suddenly, we're drafting CBs and WRs, while Seymour hangs out to dry, growing older while waiting for us to build a better line around him. Better luck next year, Richard!

What is our team's identity? Where is our focus? Where are we trying to be dominant?

There's just a sense of running around and plugging holes in the dam, and never quite fixing the leaks.

"RT"...

As far as personality we are a Run 1st team...The addition in the 4th rnd of "TJ" further illustrates that identity and he may be a huge asset sharing the backfield with "D-Mac" both running and catching that football...

The additions in the 2nd -n- 3rd rds on the "OL" are attempts to solidify that game up front and a definite area of need...

The "WR"s were late rd selections when the "DL"/"LB" talent was virtually depleted...These are just potential prospects that may or may not make the roster...I fully expect a vet "WR" in "FA"...Plaxico Burris while Steve Smith is also sitting there too as is Ocho...

The late rd selection of the "TE" was also a need if he makes the roster...

I agree "QB" is an area of need and I have been saying so longer than anyone on this board...Fact is that "NV" prospect was already gone to "SF" when we made our 1st pick...But be honest here...If "MrD" selected another "QB" in the 1st rd with that #17 pick you and many others would be all over his back for it while neglecting that Run "D"....I fully expect the "QB" to be addressed in "FA"..."VY"...

On the "D" side of the ball we have a legitimate need at "CB" and a tremendous need should we lose Nam...We addressed it with mid to late rd picks last season and this season so hopefully we have the bodies there to rebuild...

Last season we addressed the "LB"s threw the draft and "FA"s...Same for the "DL" and both were improved...We have yet to be able to address the further needs threw "FA"s but rest assured we aren't done yet...."OLB" -n- big "DT"...

Each owner still has his team and coaches and player contracts but just no “NFL” to be franchised under…The names are theirs and they could sue for ownership rights and continue as such pooling their collective ownership into a new franchising institution…

Did you ever attempt to find out who owns the NFL…It’s undefined as such…Corp…Who is the ownership…Each individual owner is a franchise under the NFL that owns them…But who owns the freakin NFL???…

Reopen/Reorganize under a new name and new "CBA with a new union…New bi-laws…New 18 game schedule…Ya wanna play or don’t you…Sign here and by the way we don’t pay those ridicules wages like that other now defunct league did…But if you have a better gig have at it…We be the only game in town…Well except that UFL and their 5 team schedule with little else to entice…Oh!…By the way…We have invited those 5 owners to join us…Guess that leave the rest of you out in the cold now dosen’t it…

The Raiders drafted for speed regardless of need.

Drafting the fastest RB at the Combine should have been a luxury for an established team or a team in need of a RB.

Speed is the only reason we drafted for RB depth - on top of depth - while other positions are unfilled.

While Davis stockpiles speed at RB, WR and CB, the heart of our team remains weak.

The Raiders are back to their old ways of doing business. In the process, Jackson even sounds like Al Davis.

The Raiders had 8 selections this year - including a pick they traded their 2nd round pick next year to get - and they used at least three of them to draft the fastest players they could find.... meaning the fastest in the draft or the fastest at a particular position or the fastest player available. That's the criteria the Raiders work with, which I happen to strongly disagree with.

I understand the argument of having Seymour instead of a 1st round pick the Raiders WOULD HAVE MADE, but what did we get for next year's second round pick?

Last year we had a brief glimpse of what a Raiders' draft could be like. Then, pooooof! Back to the same ole same ole.

Congratulations! We now have the fastest team in football, hands down.

If we win "NE" gets a late 2nd rd pick little more than the value of a 3rd rd pick...We get the services of 2 players now in exchange for one future consideration of unknown value...By the time "NE" spends that pick our 2 players will no longer be rookies...

Just like Seymour...We got 2 vet years of service and more to come in advance of a pick of unknown value rather than take a chance on a 2011 rookie who may or may not have the heart to play the game and needs more time to develop...

There is a widely accepted draft value chart that says Al Davis got taken by the Patriots yet again.

Taking your word for the trade as it occurred, we received #92 and #125 picks this year for our second round pick next year.

By the numbers, we received 179 draft points from the Pats and gave them 410 draft pts, i.e., a 231 point deficit (assuming we draft in the middle of the field in 2012, as we did this year).

By the numbers, we paid them more than twice draft value for those picks.

Unfortunately, that's totally consistent with past trade and contract inequities that follow Davis with a collective stench of mismanagement.

I give this Raiders draft a B-

I love the Wiz pick, and it looks like he will be the stating center.

I love the Taiwan Jones pick. He can be like a Sproles, or Reggie Bush for the Raiders.

If Joe Barksdale can be a Right Tackle, then I really love this pick. If he ends up just another guard, that's not so great.

As for the rest of the picks, speedy, Cb's, and Wr's. We'll have to wait and see if anything good comes from this bunch.

Big downside of draft was no run defense help taken at all.

But if Barksdale can plat RT, I would upgrade draft to a B+.

It would mean that Al got a center, and a RT in same draft. That would be great news if it happens.

I have to agree and add in the "OT"/"G" from last season who never got a chance to play and our "OL" is young and developing...

"LOT" Veldheer
"LOG" Campbell (Loper)
"C" Wiz II
"ROG" Loper (Campbell)
"ROT" Barksdale

I would put Loper at "ROG" early on so we don't have 2 rookies side by side but Campbell is prolley a better fit on the right side..

"TJ" is going to be fun...Sharing the backfield with "D-Mac" and lining up anywhere for any type of play while "D-Mac" does the same...This is going to drive "DC"s absolutely nuts...Our "O" could become so diversified that we can change personalities without making substitutions and the "DC"s are forced to use their "TO"s to respond...

Anything from 2 back sets to the spread "O" is possible...And the speed -n- athletics is unreal...Reverse or Double Reverse...FleaFlicker or "HB" Pass to the "RB"...In the Slot or as Wide Outs...

Than we have the other side of this...The Power Run formation with Bush/Reese and our new "WR" who looks like a small "TE"...I saw some film and he looks real...Hard to bring down and good hands...Good power runner who knocks "DB"s on their ass...David Ausberry....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=641DZvz2dcw

The 2 "CB"s are also very interesting...The 4th rd pick was actually rated a little higher than the 3rd rd pick...#11 -n- #17...

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/probe.php?genpos=CB&draftyear=2011&sortby=tsxpos&order=ASC&startspot=10

The other "WR" is the speed type with hands and the "TE" is unknown to me at this point...Blocking "TE" is all I have seen so far...

Based on career starts, Valdheer is the veteran of that group.

That arrangement calls for another year of development... the setback I mentioned before.

Careful what you wish for. Smart money says we sign at least one veteran OL while we figure out if any of these guys can even play in the NFL.

Just to recap my post that disappeared.

I grade Raiders draft a B-

I love the Wiz pick. Looks like he will be the starting center right away.

Keys to draft our Taiwan Jones, and Joe Barksdale.

If Jones can be a Sproles, or Reg Bush, and Barksdale can play RT. I would upgrade draft to a B+

Rest of draft was speedy CB's, and WR's. Hopfully something good will emerge from this bunch.

So, like most post drafts, it's wait and see time.

hey everyone,
it's been a while since i last checked in but just wanted to drop in and say hi.

so raider staffers are gonna attempt to sell us season tickets eh? and during a lockout? i don't think so!

anyway, hope you're all doing well!

as always, go raiders! (season or no season)

There is a plus in it...They save their $$$ while other teams are cutting everyone's pay...Now that's "Raider Luv" Bro and "MrD" shows it to his fans -n- Employees and coaches/players who have loyalty to him...Nothing superficial about "Raider Luv"...

Besides I put a few $$$ figures to it and this is what it says...

Sell 10% of your pay and save your entire $$$ check...

$5,000/mo needs to sell $500 package which is about 2 season tickets and have until the season starts in Sept to do it...So all this due has to do is buy 2 season tickets in the name of his friends and donate them to whoever to save his entire $$$ check...Figuring that's spread over May threw August it would constitute 4 months so a cost of $125/mo should this "CBA" get settled in June...If July that would be doubled to $250/mo and $1,000 and so on...

Now what about the poor boy making only $1500/mo...One season ticket package would take care of 3 months worth of holdout...So his $500 cost would be over the duration of that same 4 month period and he now has an extra ticket to take his friends to the game or a local Poor Kid like himself....

I really can't see any disaster in the works here...Looks like a win-win to me for everyone involved who shows that "Raider Luv" -n- Loyalty to "Mr Davis and his Raiders...

111-25-n-6...That's Our Record When We Score Well...

According to riders.com that’s our record during our top 10 scoring seasons…Now this supports what I have been pimping regarding our "D"s need for the “O” to move those damn chains…Take the other teams out of their run game and force them to throw against the teeth of our “D” and try to stay standing in the face of that “Raider Rush”…

That "02" team was the #1 "O" and that "D" was #3 against the rush with Bresnihan as "DC"...

It’s my opinion we now have the team on the roster that can move those damn chains and score and we have the coaches to get it done…My only question remains at “QB” but some recent reports say “JC” may be turning a corner with us…While it’s very difficult to put faith in what I have NOT seen I am still a little hopeful…..

That we go out and sign another “QB” like “VY” or Carson Palmer because Damn!!!…Kile Boller just don’t get it!!!…

I just want’s to win Baby!!!

I'm beginning to think that both sides are willing to go down in flames.

They had better watch out, they are on the verge of teaching folks what life is like without the NFL, and a lot of folks are going to discover that it's not that bad. They will discover new hobbies and become more invested in other sports. They will allocate discretionary income elsewhere.

I'm not saying that the NFL will suddenly be unpopular or disregarded, but they may lose the fever-pitch fan madness of the last decade, and if that happens, it will be hard to get it back.

RT - Agreed.

What will happen for many sports fans this year is that your interests and priorities will shift.

Using me as an example ... I have a keen interest in both American football and English football, specifically the NFL and EPL.

The NFL/Oakland is my #1 favorite and the EPL/Liverpool is a very close second.

With the NFL mess, I will naturally shift more "hobby" time/money to the EPL which runs from August to May.

The sport has been damaged, but not nearly to the extent that it will be if they don't take the field this fall. Some (many) people just don't care what happens during the off-season.

Perhaps only a small percentage of fans may understand the overall impacts of not having OTAs, camps and pre-season.

It could create a polarization between established teams and teams that much need the types of activities that are being missed.

With a new HC, OC and DC, the Raiders need all the work they can get.

All eyes on Pryor as he tries for the NFL

He turned down the CFL opportunity and is planning to go for the NFL…Now already one team has tried and lost…Who’s up next???

The Negative Propaganda Doesn't Scare Me In The Least...

But that doesn’t explain his Ohio State numbers: 2,164 rushing yards, 6,177 passing yards, 57 touchdown passes and two BCS bowl game MVP awards….31/35 as starter…

"I hear all these analysts say he’s a project. He’s this. He’s that," he said. "That’s all paper talk. Put him out there and see if 31 teams don’t want him….."All it takes is one."

So let that one be the Raiders who covet speed so a 4.33 “QB” @ 6’6" 233#’s with an arm n legs should spark some interest out of the “OldMan”…

No way this kid goes unnoticed and no way he lasts until the 5th rd…I even question the 4th rd…
