Time to Restore Order

The San Diego Chargers are the most overrated team in the NFL. They went 8-8 last year in a weak division, yet everyone talks about them with hushed reverence. Show me another 8-8 team that gets to strut around as if they laid the golden egg, and as if they've already won their division before a single ball has been snapped.

As much as I've scratched my head about the Raiders lately, I am hopeful that they can pop the air out of San Diego's over-inflated balloon on Monday night, sending both teams on opposite trajectories.

We have the opportunity to break two mind-boggling streaks in one fell swoop: 11 straight losses to the Chargers and 10 straight losses on prime time television. If our time is not now, then when is it?

The key to the game is so obvious it's almost insulting to mention it: stop the run. On that front, Richard Seymour gives hope where there was precious little just seven days ago.

The Broncos just beat the Bengals on a fluke play at the end of the game. The Chiefs nearly beat the Ravens. Crazy stuff is already happening in our division.

It's time to crazy it up even more. It's time to shut L.T. down, and to shut 'Lil Phil's trap. It's time to paint another pained grimace on Norv Turner's face. It's time for the return of true Raiders football, and for order to be rearranged and restored in the AFC West.

I will be interested in which Raider team shows up tomorrow.
I will be interested in the game calling on the defensive side of the ball. I will be interested in the offensive passing game, and blocking game.
The obvious key to this game is our linebackers. They need to hit their gaps fast, and not overshoot them. Shut the run game down, and pressure, pressure, pressure. Give our CBs a chance to Intercept.

GO RAIDERS!

The debut of Rob Ryan’s 3-4 defense in Cleveland _ 225 yards rushing for Minnesota, including 180 yards and three touchdowns by Adrian Peterson. All Brett Favre had to do was hand the ball off.

Looks like the SOB is doing a great job, huh? Thank God he wasn't selected as our HC.

Gary said..." So why exactly are you whining about bringing in a run stopper again???"

Bottom line is that it’s Takes “God Given Right” to voice his opinion in whatever way he sees fit. We are all here to give our own version of what we think is right or wrong. Period, so let’s move on shall we.

Q: Was this to address run defense?

Davis: No he’s a great player. Don’t look at it that way. It’ll help the run defense, definitely. He’s been a great run player but he fits where we are.

There’s your answer folks, Al's take on the situation at hand. This line of reasoning is something Davis has done for years. It's never been about what we need to do, it’s about great players. I am sure you all read Jerry Mac's entire coverage of the presser. Al was in true form. I love him at times and yes at times I hate him. But he even said, “Randy Moss was great here for us. We couldn’t satisfy Randy, which was our fault. He’s a truly great player. The idea when you get a great player is to make him happy and satisfy him."

So winning is not a priority here? A player’s owner you ask? Here’s more proof.

Q: What was it that drew you to the Raiders? Question directed to Seymour.

Davis: It was the owner.

Q: Richard, you’re leaving a constant winner to a struggling team, do you understand this is not a team that’s guaranteed a playoff spot?

Davis: That’s your opinion.

See folks we not critical at all, I mean its Davis’ right to do what he wishes with his team correct?

Q: What affect will an uncapped year have?

Davis: It will affect it, obviously it will change it. The thing is, the owner’s are hellbent on getting an agreement that they feel is more in line with what should be as far as the numbers are. I’m interested in the game. We’ve got John (Madden) in there, now, John’s interested in the game. That will help.

Told you, Davis has his fingers in everything. That’s why he’ll have a voice in the CBA and other facets of the game. Obviously, we are critical of what Al does. I mean come on, “ No he’s a great player. Don’t look at it that way." Philosophy is why we struggle year after year. Sure great players make teams better. I don’t doubt that at all. But if Al wants us to be a winner again, shouldn’t the focus be on each year, improving what we’ve have built upon or is it just to add great players and ‘don’t look at it that way’ line of reasoning that will get us back to respectability once again?

They are trying, I won't discount that. But I want them to try harder and really dig deep inside themselves and accept nothing but well excuted football and win some games.

Now let's wipe the floor with the Charges.

Go Raiders!!!!!!!

We know Richard Seymour is an extremely talented player, but he's also a class act. He will make everyone around him better just by his presence.

Welcome Richard Seymour!

I can't agree with R.T. more about San Diego being overrated. Just about everyone is picking them to go to the AFC title game. Why? They were lucky to get into the playoffs last year and what did they do to improve so much? I don't see it.
P.s.- Sooo glad that asswipe of a DC Ryan is gone. We picked up 2 or 3 close wins with that addition by subtraction.

What I want to see on MNF:

E-A-E-60-W

Effort, Aggression, and Execution for 60 minutes and a Win.

"Cherry's on Top":

- Russell 2 DHB for a deep strike TD

- Seymour planting Lil Phil into the infield dirt headfirst

You watch a team like Buffalo at the end, and the only thing to conclude is that they just don't have the football IQ to finish the game. I'll bet no one told the return guy: situational, we need to keep the ball above all else. Because no one probably thought of telling the guy.

RT:

Is there any doubt WHATSOEVER that Seymour has made an immediate impact?

SD has rushed the ball for only 21 yards at less than 3 yards per carry.

SD scored 10 points on 2 short fields. (ST let us down not our D)

Seymour has played in the 1st half the majority of snaps.

Seymour has played RDE, RT, LT, LDE.

Seymour has 2 game changing sacks.

We will have a hard fought 2nd half for the big prize which is a "W" but anyone who thinks the Seymour acquisition was anything short of brilliant needs to put down the crack pipe.

You knew we were in trouble when it was taking so long on such an obvious reception. Once again replay has been used as a tool by the officials to f__k us when the obvious is right in front of everybody to see. Congressional investigation please into NFL officiating.

Did they change the rules? Now you have to catch the ball, control it, and come down on two feet while signing your name in the end zone turf in order to make it an official catch? WTF?

Murphy is raw, but he's playing his ass off. Total BS call. That was a TD!

Double-teamed, Seymour gets a half sack before the half. Wow! The whole D is charged.

With Russell's inexperience, it's almost inexcusable to have two rookie WRs in there. Is Walker napping on the bench or something?

I mostly like what I see so far. Can they keep it up?

PR....

I agree on all 4 points. We lost our edge towards the end of the game. Turnovers hurt us and ST play was horrible as well.

JaMarcus, I hope you get better as the season goes on. Cause right now his inconsistent play is not helping us. I still see a lot of mental mistakes and his accuracy is scary at times, like did he just do that or did he just do that? Hopefully Paul Hackett can help IMMEIDATELY.

The blown call is a pisser. We had this game won on all counts though we weren't crisp, but atleast we didn’t have our butts handed to us like in the Saints game.

LT you didn’t get your 100’s this time. And held them to less than 100 yds rushing combined. If we can do that all season long we can win some games on that count alone.

Seymour, welcome to Oakland. Pro Bowl # 6 here we come.

Kansas City here we come.
