Pittsburgh gets away with a hold on the last TD to gain the 28-21 lead. And now Tawain fumbles kick off. Sheesh!

Just like that, Derek Carr marches the Raiders back into the game.
Murray is out with a concussion, Hayden could be done for the day as well with a concussion. I knew this game was going to be tough, but come on Raiders, JUST WIN, BABY!

Stat of the game: 600 yards on offense for the Steelers.

The Prevent freaking defense cost us the game again! The Prevent gave Antonio Brown that long catch and pass to set up the winning field goal. If the CBs are on the line and jam him, he doesn't make the catch, nor does the other WR get the pick on the screen that opened him up. Horrible defensive game calling today.
The biggest difference in the game other than that was the fumbled kick off that gave Pittsburgh 35.

This was another game that was a win for the Raiders, that the prevent defense snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory.

we gave it a go but you can't give up so many yards and first downs and expect to win. Carr throw a stupid pick but there is no blame for him for the loss. no secondary and a blitz which never gets there is the reason we lost.

all in all to take it to the last play away is not the worst result , this is the a big test for del rio to keep his team positive and focused for the 2nd half of the season and reggie bey=tter be drafting D next off season

Hell of a game, they gained a lot of experience today, the D is the weakness and the O just couldn't overcome them today. I'll tell you what though, you saw the look in the Steelers eyes, they knew they met a fucking team today, a tough, physical team that won't back down. They saw a different Raider team, the Raiders will learn so much from this game. Down the road, it will pay big dividends. It's a tough loss, but it is also proof that this team is for real and more additions coming this offseason and this team is going to be a force for years to come.....whatcha gonna do, when the Raiders run wild on YOU?

I agree Jones, the Raiders learned a lot today. I hope the main lesson is to play aggressive for 60 minutes. They played physical football for 59 minutes only to go soft that last minute to lose. Throw the prevent defense out the window! I'd rather the Raiders lose from being too aggressive, than playing soft defense.
This loss is a bitter pill to swallow. The Raiders should have learned from the past 2 wins of playing soft will allow the team back in it. You have to keep your foot on your opponents throat until the game is officially over. Instead of overtime with a chance to win, we notch one in the loss column.

If you watch the 'big play' at the end of the game, the Raiders were playing MAN to MAN. Steelers ran a disguised pick play and Amerson couldn't recover and off to the races they went. There was nothing prevent about it. Pitt made the right call and the QB executed it as did the 'pick'.

The Raiders were down by 14 with 7 minutes left, they tied it, too many injuries on D and they couldn't finish. It wasn't taking the foot off the pedal, it was 2 physical teams beating the crap out of each other, a HEAVYWEIGHT tilt. Steelers had a little more at the end. There is no shame in playing a 10 am game in Pitt and trading with them blow for blow. I am proud of the team and this just cements the excitement I have for tomorrow and beyond with this team. It's all looking really good and will continue to get better......as a Raider fan, you can't ask for anything more. From where it was to where it is today....puts a smile on my face, even in a close loss to the Steelers. Thank you Mark, Reggie and CO.

Fun game to watch but winnable. Carr played his ass off, and so did Crabtree and the offense.

It's a no-brainer the league will fine Mike Mitchell for a helmet to helmet on Murray that the officials amazingly missed.

Carr is becoming a star. If you were building a team for the future there are only a couple of qbs under 30 you would consider before him.

The o-line will really miss Hudson if he is out for any length of time. It's hard to win when you turn the ball over 4 times. Jones I disagree with you characterization that they played tough and physical. You are correct the effort was there but when you give up 600 yards it was because you were not physical, only one sack etc.

All that being said I think the team is a couple of DBs and more depth across the board away from a playoff contender.

Another observation. It would have been good to have Mike Mitchell still on the Raiders he was a real difference maker for the Steelers today at a position the Raiders are weak at.

Remember, Steelers were the "other" team rumored to want Mitchell in the draft, but the Raiders picked him in the 2nd round. Guess they got their man after all.

IMO, the Raiders sorely missed TJ Carrie in the secondary today. They got torched.

Raiders CBs were 10 yards off on the big play by Brown. Raiders couldn't cover him because they were man-to-man, but playing soft and off the line. If they played on the line, and jam him at the snap, that's not a big play.

Raider Nate i always enjoy your analysis but sorry man they were up against one of the top 3 wide receivers in football and the Raiders just don't have the horses. You can't put that one on the coaches iy wouldn't matter if they were playing cover 2, bump and run, or soft zone. Brown got behind the Raider DBS at least 5 or 6 times today. Playing zone was the only way to stop them from completing five or six bombs. Regards Sandy

IMO, two game changers included Mitchell's helmet to helmet hit on Murray that didn't get called and Jones fumble on the kickoff return. Either one of those plays could have changed the outcome of the game.

Sandy, I understand why they went to that type of coverage, but the difference was Ben was out of the game. Landry doesn't have that big of an arm to throw it 45+ yards down field like Ben. He's going to dink-and-dunk like he did in Oklahoma, and we gave him the perfect defensive coverage to do that and get a big play.

It was the same play that the Steelers got a offensive pass interference on because #11 blocked Hayden before the pass was caught, but on the play in question, he timed his block perfectly. Hayden, surprisingly, was playing on the line and in the best position to make the play which is why he was targeted. Amerson didn't see the block coverage and tried to run through it, and blocked himself out. Had he been up on the line (even 6 yards off) he is in a better position to make a play. It is all about position, and the Raiders CB Amerson was out of position. I'd rather get burned playing aggressive, but there is no excuse for lining up 10 yards off the ball, ever!

With that said, I am still holding my head high this morning because the difference the Raiders have played from this year and the last decade is night/day. We need to be aggressive on defense. Charles Woodson, Khalil Mack, and Aldon Smith are trying to get our defense there by leading by example. It has effected DJ Hayden's play that is for sure. The last 3 games DJ has been a beast. I said this needed to be a different year for him, and I was turning the page on him when he started clicking. Yes, he still needs to learn to turn his head, but he is getting better and better every week. He reminds me of Nnamdi early in his career. Nnamdi took a lot of bumps his first 2 years, but then became an elite CB. If DJ continues to progress, I think he can be an elite CB. If that happens, I will be happy to eat some humble pie.

We are down a game in the wildcard now. The Steelers and Jets hold those. We've got the Vikings next, then the Lions, Titans, Chiefs, Doncos, Packers, Chargers, and Chiefs. Very winnable schedule, and I think they can run the table and end the season 12-4. It is up to them. JUST WIN, BABY!
