Picture of The Week: Paul McQuistan
I've been considering a "Picture of The Week" feature for quite some time. However, I feared it might be perceived as filler, or a bit gimmicky. But now I have no choice. This photo of rookie Raiders guard Paul McQuistan from today's minicamp is just too cool. I love this guy. We all love this guy. Check out those forearms. Those aren't arms, those are clubs. The path to our quarterback just got a lot narrower, and lot more painful. The nickname process is well underway (see comments under previous McQuistan take). We've got votes for McNasty, Braveheart, Malachai and more. How about The Red Scare? We know he'll put fear into opposing lineman. I'm sure his teammates will weigh in on the nickname matter, too. This guy is a walking nickname, and perhaps a legend in the making.

Going by the other pictures in that photo gallery, it looks like Huff is sporting Woodson's old #24 and Darnell Bing has officially been moved to linebacker, wearing #59.
No doubt the team will come up with an official name for Mr. Paul Malachai McNasty Shrek Quiz McQuistan during training camp. This is when the "Seabass"es come out...right along with shaving the rookie's heads in strange abstract designs.
Since Big Linc retired, Gallery's Samson mane got spared...wonder if McQuistan's mullet will meet the razor?
He may never see the field next season for all we know, but d@mn it feels good to be a Raider!

RT - At the rate of Braveheart McNasty's popularity and cult following, an entire blog will need to be devoted to just him. It is just a matter of days before an official fan club is created. His #79 jersey will be flying off the shelves.
During mini-camp the Raider trainer might need to administer Mr. McQ with some sunblock SPF 45 or it looks like he will be burnt to a crisp. I hope the veterans spare the red mullet. It is times like this when you wish the Raider organization will allow for more player access instead of working in secrecy. I just can't get enough of our new favorite Raider.
BTW, I like your idea for a picture of the week. It isn't gimmicky. As far as I'm concerned, any reason to discuss Braveheart McNasty puts a smile on my face.
Yeah I agree, that was one of the first things I noticed his forearms and physique. Then who could miss that big red mullet. That makes a statement to me, he could care less what others think about him. He looks born to be in the Silver and Black. Reports from mini-camp on Braveheart McNasty have been very favorable. Veterans like Derrick Burgess & Barry Sims have made some very positive comments about him.
I know it has only been 3 days of mini-camp but I would not be suprised at all if Braveheart McNasty finds himself our starting RG.
