Broncos Gameday Thread

Well, here we are, our playoff hopes all but dashed.

Now the goal is to somehow notch at least a .500 mark to attain the kind of round number that would send us into the offseason with momentum.

And that goal starts today. GO RAIDERS!

There's no time like the present to get over the hump... because 5 wins just doesn't feel like progress. I think Tony Sparano probably would have been good for five wins this year. Point being, the players and coaches need to step up their game!

GO RAIDERS!

PS today we get to see what life in the division will be like without Peyton Manning. Is Derek Carr ready to replace Manning as top dog?

This is a great win. Can hopefully build on this.

Only concern is the offense, which was riding high for a while, seems to have hit a wall last few games.

Would luv to beat the Pack. Havn't won a home game since the Jets.

We have missed hudson when he was injured . Cooper is not the unexpected surprise to teams and the play calling has been fairly pedestrian though the 2nd to yesterday deserves a lot of credit. We tried a bubble screen twice and it bombed both times so we faked the screen and sent the te to the end zone and the db fell for it nice call there.

Getting Hudson back was key to slowing Denver's league best pass rush. Although, the Raiders now have the leagues best pass rusher thanks to Denver. As far as playcalling, I think it may have been dialed back a bit to keep Carr from making critical mistakes.

How about the fake injury by Von Miller so the Broncos had extra time to review the sideline pass? That's as low as it gets.

They need to penalize that across the board. Saw it earlier in the year too, where another guy went and tapped a CB to go down and he did. That should be an "Unsporstman-like" penalty for 15 yards. Just my opinion.

Doncos got away with a lot too, the face mask by Aqib Talib on Cooper in the end zone, and a few other grabs. I've figured he's the best because he gets away with the most. Garbage.

On offense, I'm disappointed that Musgrave didn't call for more screens, or attack where the blitz was coming. TE chip the blitz, find the crease for a quick pass. The Raiders on 3 and a foot, to drop back 7 and get sacked was deplorable. Again, if you want to pass, do a RB screen there, or pitch it to the outside.

Now, if the Raiders win out and end 9-7, which is the Packers, Chargers, and Chiefs. Their playoff hopes are still alive given this scenario. The Jets, Chiefs, and Steelers have to lose some games.

The Steelers (8-5) have the Doncos, Ravens, and Browns left. They could lose to the Doncos, but the Ravens and Browns need to step their games up for this divsion rival game. If the Steelers end the season 9-7, they have the edge over the Raiders for the head-to-head game. If the Steelers win 2 of 3, or all 3, they're in.

More than likely, the Chiefs will win 2 more games (Ravens and Browns). But if they lose to one of those teams and the Raiders, they end the season 9-7. I think that the Browns could knock them off the week before they play the Raiders, because they may get caught looking ahead. The problem is if this happens, the Chiefs and Raiders will have an in Division record of 4-2, so I don't know what the determining factor would be after that to see who "wins" second place. Anyone know? If it goes to the Chiefs, the Raiders will be out. If it goes to the Raiders, then it depends on the Steelers and Jets if they get in.

The Jets (8-5) have the Patriots (which they will lose to), and if they lose to Buffalo (possibility) or the Cowboys (highly doubtful), they will end the season 9-7, and since the Raiders own the tie breaker, they will be in the playoffs.

I hate to say this, but it looks like I'm rooting for the Broncos this Sunday against the Steelers. I am also rooting for the Ravens and/or Browns to win 2 games (Steelers and Chiefs), and rooting for the Patriots, Bills, and Cowboys. The Raiders need to do their part and win out.

Even if these scenarios do not happen, I'm extremely proud of the Raiders this season. Massive improvement as a team. We need a Middle Linebacker, Corners, and another Running Back (will they draft Henry?). JUST WIN, BABY!

Plenty of reasons to believe it's unlikely the Raiders will win out but how nice it would be to play in the final game of the season with playoffs on the line (for either team). It's been like forever since a game this late in the season had meaning, i.e., except draft placement.
