Titans Gameday Thread

This week's theme is "time to reset."

Can we pivot off of last week's victory and reset the tone of this season starting Sunday? Can McGloin prove that it wasn't beginner's luck last week, and that he's a true diamond in the rough?

I will find out first hand, as I will be at the game. Stay tuned! RAIII-DERRS!

Enjoy the game, RT!

Winning back to back games would be NICE!

I expect the Titans to aggressively blitz the Sranton Scrapper. We can neutralize the blitz by running the ball effectively and managing the down and distance.

Another clean game by #14 (decisions, accuracy, ball security, game management) would lend itself to it not being a fluke but a guy who has good football acumen and awareness.

Back to back wins would be huge momentum. Last week was a huge win on the road....if they can win this game, they could ride that wave for the rest of the year.

DEFENSE is the key, they have to stuff the run and force Fitz to beat them. They have to give the O good field position, like last week.

RT, have fun at the game.

Big opportunity for the Raiders to turn the corner.

Disappointing crowd, way too many empty seats...Raider fans are disappointing sometimes.

D has to get some runs behind the line of scrimmage. Titans ability to get at least 3 yrds on every carry is not a good sign. The D will get worn down....Raiders need to do this to the Titans...run the ball, pound it, wear them down and the game will be there in the 4th. Stop with Reece as the Wildcat QB, unless he is going to throw the ball. POUND THE BALL.

I mean, this is a huge game for this team and the fans don't show? A team that was supposed to be the worst EVER, is in the playoff hunt after 10 games and the fans don't show? WTF?
Oh shit, pick at the 10 yrd line...I TOLD YOU TO POUND THE F'IN BALL.

Enough of Jacoby Ford...get him off the roster. Another old time Raider who doesn't have a clue about what a fumble will do to his time at that time of the game. Low football IQ, hang on to the F'in ball when in traffic. Cut him.

Another dropped ball by a WR. Wow! We have to stop killing ourselves, and killing our drives.
At least we tied it at 6.
If Rivera is lost at TE, it's going to be a tough day.
JUST WIN BABY!

Definitely a letdown in this game after last week. This game is there for the taking, just have to MUSCLE out the win. Power ball, keep it simple and just beat them, it's there.

Good thing Tennessee is making more mental errors than the Raiders, so far. Just have to buckle down and get it done.

slow start...need the O to come back and score...Jano's miss was a momentum killer...he sure is blowing this year...is he still hurt or does he just miss Lechler?

Tough loss, Fitzpatrick was playing his best ball today, had him in plenty of 3rd and long...just couldn't stop him on 3rd down....a bigger lead heading into the half would of helped.

If this team had some top play makers...it's not even close. But, when the talent is thin, every game is a struggle.

The game was there, once again, hope Allen has learned another lesson. POUND THE BALL when you have a young QB and a team that is good vs the Pass. When the other team is moving the ball....POUND THE BALL, keep it away from them.

Biggest disappointment has to be Jano missing two FGs inside the 50 after being perfect from that distance range last year. Otherwise, too many drops by WRs and the D allowed way too many thrid and long conversions. I hate to see 3-man pass rush. That's a recipe for completion every time.

Tough loss. Titans are now the 6th seed in the playoff hunt... which the Raiders would have had with a win.

I still like McGloin to start Thursday! He put the Raiders ahead and put the game in the hands of the defense.

Very winnable game that the Raiders let slip through their hands.

Titans empty backfield, 5 WR sets killed the Raiders D.

Overall, I liked how McGloin handled himself and gave the team a good chance to win late.

Watson was a healthy scratch. So Reggie's 1st and 2nd rounder are not contributing. Spin that however you guys want but its the FACTS plain and simple. That is failure. You guys are dreaming if you think the team will be good next year

Jones got it right "if the team had some top play makers"

I guess blue collar mediocre players do not win football games. Stars do. You know guys who can make a play at the end of the game.

In two years Reggie has found one big play guy that being Charles Woodson who is 37. How is that for a straw man statement Calico, come on roll out your tired boring excuses.

Jones I I also love your line about "Allen learning another lesson." What a wonderful plan for Reggie to hire a nobody with no hc experience so he can make mistakes and learn on the job while the fans suffer.

Its just a matter of time till Dennis is gone and that will be a happy day. Just look around what guys like Jeff Fisher, Bruce Arians, real coaches do. Hopefully Reggie follows Dennis out the door.

This just in Reggie McKenzie has announced his strategy for the 2014 draft: TRADE DOWN TO THE 6TH ROUND.

Allen is a total wuss. Game on the line he rushes three and plays a zone. The Raiders have 4 wins what the hell does he have to loose. Total conservative wuss call.

Oh yeah and all that crap about Allen installing discipline guess what the Raiders are 28th in the league in penalties per game at 7.1

This guy is not HC material

Wow! What a crock of shit. I hate coverage defense too but Allen dialed up the same play that won the game against Houston, so I hardly blame him for trying it again.

Hey B Bill, how come you keep dodging my question? Where were you when Al Davis was mis-managing the team into oblivion? Did you utter a single complaint during 10 years of epic failures?

NY I am happy to answer your question please answer mine, i am really curious if you would swap DJ Hayden for like 15 other guys taken before or after him. Answer me if you could trade DJ Hayden for Star, Mingo, EJ Manuel, Sheldon Richardson etc etc today would you do it? I know you said that you prefer to build a team with blue collar players but I have to think you would prefer to have a 1st round pick that was contributing.

To answer your question:

Of course I was unhappy with what happened after 2002 all Raiders fans were. But guess what Al Davis was and always will be the Raiders he brought us so many great memories and created the very fabric of the team. I loved the man so I was willing to give him benefit of the doubt the respect he deserved for the years and years of success like 2000-2002 as an example. Sorry Reggie and Dennis have done nothing to deserve that respect as of yet.

Yes Al in a desperate attempt to get back to the Super Bowl made many short sighted moves that hurt the team and even continues to somewhat negatively impact the team today. However, I am sick and tired of people using that as an excuse for Reggie's shortcomings

Al's later years approach of shortsighted reach for the stars excitement left a lot to be desired but lately I am feeling I rather have that than whatever you would call Reggie's approach.

Let's not forget Al got the Raiders back to 8-8 two years in a row. Now I know some of you call those records fools gold, but to me I only judge results and 16-16 is a lot better than the last two years 8-19. I know you will laugh at this but had Mark kept Hue and Carson and let Hue hire a Tarver type for the D the team would be in a much better place today than it is now.

All the stuff I read about Reggie putting the house in order and building this awesome foundation I just don't see it. I can only go by the product on the field and the win-loss record. To that end 8-19 and a draft this year where of the first six players taken only one is making an impact and the rest are injured or suck that is fact not opinion. Couple that with an unsettled qb position (that is being generous) and I think fool's gold is thinking the Raiders are going to be good next year.

So call me shortsighted but in the NOT FOR LONG world that is the NFL, I will continue to criticize Allen and Reggie until I see results in the W-L column.

You and the majority of the other commentators here think that is coming next year. I really really hope you are right. Unfortunately I think you will be sadly disappointed and then perhaps you will come around to my point of view that Allen and Reggie are not the right men for the job.

Thanks for the spirited debate, I hope turkey and mashed potatoes is not the only thing making us smile on Thursday.

Happy Thanksgiving to you NY, to Raider Take and all the other fans and their families who love the Raiders

I'm so sick of hearing Reggie's got to go, Allen can't coach, with suggestions like Gruden, Cower... If either of these guys wanted to coach the Raiders, I think they would have got the job. Ok, Allen should have blitzed that last play, but clean house again? so we can get another crew, different system to start from scratch again, and then what,we could repeat in another 2 years...

So once again... Al Davis knew he wasn't going to live forever and had a strategy, he knew he could flip the franchise's fortunes with a big winning season, so he did a decade of quick, but expensive 'fixes', that kept the team afloat, just!... The problem being those fixes were put on a credit card, and became due.
Next season we have all the money, a free hand and I think all but one draft pick, to GO SIGN THE TALENT WE NEED! this autopsy every game is fucking depressing, yes I hate to see us lose winnable games, it ruins my weekend of football, but I also see pieces being put in place and that there is light at the end. It's one thing to suck... but it's much worse to suck while paying outrageous salaries to average players who don't contribute.
I fully expect our team to be competitive next year, and if not, then let the screaming begin.

See, Ano wants right now, with no idea that it's being put together with beyond this year in mind.

Ano cries because it thinks the rebuilding should be done already.

Ano doesn't realize that Mark didn't want Hue because Hue fucked up.

Ano also doesn't realize that after Hue's GLORIOUS 8-8 season, that HUE HIMSELF said he wanted to change the personnel on the team because the players didn't have what it takes = HUE's OWN WORDS.

Ano doesn't understand that a draft is NOT considered a bust after it's 1st year.

Let's face it, Ano is willfully ignorant because it lives in a fantasy world of make believe. Don't know if it is sincere, or just playing a role, either way, it's an idiot.

The HC was hired with next year on the mind of Reggie. The plan was for the big turn around next year, obviously.

No HC with a name was going to step into a situation like last year, so Reggie had to pick a HC with the FUTURE in mind = DENNIS ALLEN.

Reggie knew it wasn't a 1 year or 2 year fix, NO, this was much bigger. So, in his wisdom, Reggie is making moves building towards the 3rd year which is REALISTIC expectations....but of course, ANO, don't let REALISM get mixed in with your dreamy bullshit.

BB - your post pretty much confirms you view the team with W-L binders on. That’s a shame because there’s so much more to rebuilding this team that you are missing out.

Of course I can’t promise you McKenzie and Allen will be perfect in their effort to resurrect the Raiders but the age-old formula by which Mark Davis has approached this is something AL chose to ignore and, IMO, cost the Raiders an unprecedented extra 8-10 of rebuilding. Like any true Raiders fan, I appreciate AL for his glory years and his contributions to the sport I love, but all my respect can’t change the simple fact that Davis was rudderless and reckless during that period.

You can hand out free passes until you turn purple for draft picks like JaMarcus Russell and Rolando McClain, or coaches like Tom Cable or Lane Kiffin (a young and inexperienced punk who Davis hired on a whim, then became hellishly embattled with despite the team, the fans and the organization), but it doesn’t change the mammoth hole Davis created and that you now expect McKenzie to just waltz out of.

You suggest Hue could have hired a Tarver-type, but it was Allen that hired Tarver. And, by extension, Allen is a “Tarver-type.” So your statement is a bit hypocritical.

I agree with bazjoz; this autopsy after every game is too much. It will take more than one game, or one year for the process to unfold. And while you might not like McKenzie or Allen, the dumbest thing Mark Davis can do, IMO, is change regimes before this one has had a reasonable period to gain traction.

Regarding Hayden, I thought I answered your question; you just didn’t like my answer. I like Hayden and don’t feel we need to exchange him for another rookie that we might have picked instead. For my 2 cents, Hayden is light years ahead of Russell and McClain.

Hypocritical not sure how that relates to the context of what I was inferring, which was Tarver is a good defensive coordinator which has nothing to do with Allen being a good head coach.
I understand your scars from the bad years but I don't measure progress by if Hayden is a better draft pick that Jamarcus. Its like saying hey good news I don't have flesh-eating disease anymore just an pneumonia.

Your 100% right for me its all about the wins and losses. I was under the impression that is how progress in the NFL is measured.

I guess I thought you felt the same as I noticed the following comment from you in Raider Take's previous post.

"The end product is on the field, and ultimately counted by wins and losses."

I enjoy the debate here and prefer to stay away from insults or name calling but I believe that is what one would characterize as being a hypocrite.
