Long Live The Raiders

It's T minus four hours to the first day of the rest of our Raider Nation lives. The rain over Oakland has cleansed our collective souls. The cool autumn wind is blowing. The tailgate commences. Down go the Bears. Long live the Raiders!

I disagree, the line is killing us. Josh Mccown is an easy target to blame. I agree he is not playing well. But that line is not giving him time to throw. He was under pressure repeatedly. They can't even try to go down the field. Why do you think the Bears were blitzing so much? And when they tried to roll him out, the Bears were waiting.
And the bears were holding Sapp on that long pass play!

I feel like people are exposing the line again. Blitzing because we can't stop it. I know we have many more problems than that, but I believe the o-line and the D-line are the building blocks of your team. I think that's part of why Lane Kiffin won't open up the offense or put in JaMarcus Russell. We need some line help.
The Raiders are just a bad team, but I believe in this Coach and I believe in the Raiders. It took Jon Gruden a couple of years to clear out the bad players and get some good players in. I believe the same goes for Coach Kiffin
Hang in there my brothers and sisters. We will get better, I swear...

It's time we put Russell in!

We are averaging 4 sacks a game, I don't care if he is worth millions or pennies, if he can not take 4 sacks a game maybe he shouldn't even be in this league.

The future is today!!!!!

Defense is good enough until we start winning, plain and simple

McCown has nothing on the ball, and I mean that figuratively and literally.

Am I nuts or at 3-3, isn't that the perfect time to go to JaMarcus--with a chance to win and gain confidence? I know the line is bad but would he really hold the ball as long as McCown and fail to check to the right play as often as McCown?

Yeah four sacks, but how many hits? How many QB pressures? It's not just about sacks. Mccown was under pressure all game. Also JaMarcus has only had a little over two months to learn an NFL system. I don't think he even knows the whole offense. I think he needs more time. What happens if we put him in and he gets hurt?
Save him for next year. And get some new tackles.

If he had not held out, yes. But I just don't think he can help us right now.

After a penalty we had a 2nd and 3 in their territory when the score was 3-3. We couldn't get 3 yards, at home, running two plays. We had two plays to get three yards and couldn't do it. Kick a field goal. I knew the Bears would get the ball right after that and score aTD... I just didn't know it'd be that quick. I walk to the kitchen and come back and the internet shows that the Bear scored. Unbelievable.
Time for a roster purge.

I agree, what did Jon Gruden used to say? He wanted grinders on his team.
We need more grinders on this team.
I get frustrated because I all can see is what the TV cameras show us. I wish I could see the coaches tape or the was a show where they would break down film for the fans.

When you are as thin as us, injuries kill. Chris got burned, it happens. If it wasn't for him, we would only have had 1 win last year. O should have put up more points anyway.

The whiney bastard who is 'loosing faith', go buy a Moss jersey or something. If you can't handle the dismal years without baleing, you sure as hell shouldn't be enjoying any of the good times.

Walk the plank, bitches! We don't wan't you anyway.

lol what did I tell you Raider fans in my prediction yesterday? I said that the Bears would win in a low scoring snoozefest. And that is exactly how the game turned out! Thank God my Patriots are back in action next week. My cousin and his Raider fan friends will have to take a backseat to a real football team and things will go back to normal! When will you Raider fans learn that you will NEVER win again as long as you have the Crypt Keeper as owner of your team??? lol

Point 1:
I have reached a breaking point with McCown. His lack of arm strength prevents our offense from picking up big chunks of yardage. This game made it crystal clear to me. McCown's net passing yards was 2.6. His longest completion was 14 yards. He does not possess a strong enough arm to complete a simple 3 yard out to Porter.

Point 2:
Our D & ST played VERY well. The 1 big play was Stu's fault not Carr. Think about it & rewind the tape. Carr is a back up CB. The Bears had been going to his side of the field the entire day. Carr is matched up with the speedy Berryman. Now, wouldn't you think that a FS primary responsibility would be to provide deep, bracket coverage on Berryman? Wouldn't you think that Stu would be shading over to Carr's side of the field? Where on earth was Stu on the Berryman bomb? Scratching his nuts?

Point 3:
Forget all the talk about Russell not being ready. Russell is more ready now than McCown will ever be. Forget all the talk about protecting him from getting hurt. The OLine's protection is adequate enough for a 6'5, 260 lbs, mobile, strong athletic QB like Russell. Forget the status quo. This team needs to start laying a foundation with Russell now. Get Russell on the field and hand McCown a clipboard. Does anyone honestly believe that Russell would fare any worst than McCown. The Raiders have scored only 4 TDs in the last 5 games. With McCown at QB, the opponents D crowds the line of scrimmage because they have no fear or respect for McCown's pop gun arm. Dink & dunking with McCown and handing the ball off to Fargas is the most ineffective, putrid offense.

It's really hard to watch us. Hands down just awful, but I love the Raiders. Win,Lose or Tie Raiders till I die!!!!

But as I watched the few gruel moments of the game before I had to shut it off, was how the offense was just crumbling before each snap.

I watched Simms and Gallery double teaming what's his face? A.Ogunleye just took the advantage of the open lane up the middle and just sack McCown again.

And where was Gallery? Helping Simms, cause of the pass rush coming from the left side. Those guys have no quickness off the ball, bad feet, no balance, and don't have techinique to stop anyone.

We are at 2-7. What the hell is that. We should be at 4-3 atleast.

And the defense is just killing us. Secondary will be addressed in the draft again. Im sure of it.

Im just at my wits ends right now. Im just getting a little tired of this. I mean being competitive is one thing, but constantly turning over the ball and no solid player makers on offense will not win us any games here.

Don't through in J. Russ. I don't want him to get pounded. Look at David Carr, hasnt done anything for his career has it.

Sims is under contract through 2009, but it's unlikely he'll be back next season as the Raiders will probably cut him instead of paying out a $4.53 million roster bonus.

Gallery signed a 7 year contract worth up to $60 millions with a $18.5 million in guaranteed.

Trying to look up Gallery's bonus as well. I pray we get rid of this two lug heads. Here's an interesting list of our 2004 draft. Tell me what you guys think? Was it Norvell or Davis' draft?

. OT Robert Gallery (Iowa/No. 2 selection overall):

2. C Jake Grove (Virginia Tech/No. 45 overall):

3. SS Stuart Schweigert (Purdue/No. 67 overall):

4. WR Carlos Francis (Texas Tech/No. 99 overall):

5. WR Johnnie Morant (Syracuse/No. 134 overall):

6a. DE Shawn Johnson (Delaware/No. 166 overall):

6b. LB Cody Spencer (North Texas/No. 182 overall):

7a. TE Courtney Anderson (San Jose State/No. 245 overall).

7b. LB Andre Sommersell (Colorado State/No. 255 overall):

wow, what a draft that was !!!
it's like a who's who of dog sh*t.

it was drafts like this that have us where we are today.

also, i agree with russ, we need grinders, but it takes a perfect combo of grinders, & stars to win.

in hockey they call them "muckers".
the guys that go into the corners and dig the puck out.
but they get it to the "skilled" players who try and score the goals.

in any case, we need grinders, and muckers, and skill players.
hell, we need just about everything.

and the last thing we need is more crappy drafts !!!!

I made sure not to watch this game by going shopping for hours at the mall with my lady...it actually was less painful than I thought and better than wasting my day away watching my team do what they do best these days, play with no meaning....

Maybe I have masochistic tendencies, but I watch virtually every minute of every game.

I posted earlier, but Take evidently had to delete some. The gist was we have seen the last two games why I don't like McCowan as the starter. Yes the line has major problems, but when he did have time he held the ball too long and threw into double and triple coverage. I'm surprised he didn't have three interceptions. Also, dinking and dunking isn't bad if you will get rid of the ball. McCowan has a very slow below NFL average release. Even on short passes the ball is slow getting there.

Once again the defense and special teams played well enough to win. Sims and Green have to be replaced. No questions. Gallery has shown improvement, so I would keep him for now. If a better LG became available I'd keep him as a back up.

An hey, we actually blitzed a few times and it worked. But, this defense hasn't recovered a single fumble this season.

Special teams have been the best the last two games than they have been in years.
