If you don't understand the importance of scoring offensive ranking as it relates to a true measuring stick that is your problem not mine. Last time I checked, the team that scores the most in a game wins.

Total yardage ranking is misleading if you have a team that puts together long drives that end in FGs or no points.

To continue to say we were a top 10 ranked offense last year is categorically false by any reasonable standard.

If you are trying to say I’m spinning anything, you couldn’t be more wrong.

I was simply stating facts.

But, I will make this correction. After Kiffin was shown the door, Knapp called the plays for a while, then Cable took over. The reason, according to the media, Al Davis preferred an HC that called the offensive plays. If true, it is definitely one place I would disagree with Davis.

As for him being FIRED—not true. His contract was up and Jim Mora, Jr. wanted him as his OC in Seattle. Whether his contract would have been renewed is another debate all together. But, he left to go to Seattle. It was rumored as soon as Mora got the gig in Seattle.

From his highlights there were a few wobblies in there. I think that’s correctable. But, his overall mechanics and footwork are ahead of Tebow’s.

Vick’s problem as a passer was everything was the same speed. Screen pass or fifty yard bomb. Didn’t matter, all fastballs. Not much in the way of touch on any short stuff.

Not from what I've seen. I have yet to see a clip where he throws a spiral. I hope I'm wrong but I think drafting even with a 3rd rd pick was a reach.

Nate75 - Hillis was injured most of last year. Not sure how that effects him moving forward, but he also is an established player that would come at a price.

There are plenty of RBs out there. With either McFadden or Bush on the roster, the best RB options for the Raiders will be players we've never heard of.

You got to look a little deeper than one stat line. In Atlanta they led the league in rushing attempts and yardage every year. Vick wasn't the most polished passer in the league with about 55% completion rate.

Those two things are not conducive to a lot of points.

With us, he didn't call the plays AND he had Russell for a QB. And, let's face it, Seattle plain sucked.

I'm not touting the guy, I'm just saying you got to look at the whole picture. With HC's it's ultimately wins and loses. With coordinators, It's what you want to accomplish on that side of the ball. In the end, you hope the HC makes the right choice.

I took a gander at Hillis' stats. One major difficulty. He fumbled and lost more fumbles in 2010 than Bush has his entire career with the Raiders. And, Bush has about 120 more carries over the same period.

It's a significant difference also.

Me, I'm just a Michael Bush fan. I believe it's very underrated what we could do with him as the lead back.

The guy had 977 yards rushing and 418 yards receiving and didn't take over until the sixth game.

I also think his body type holds up better to the 16 game pounding a lead back takes.

While it's true McFadden is capable of taking it all the way any time he touches the ball, what does that equate to? Three to five times a season over sixteen games. So, there's the rub, sixteen games.

Bush runs it tough between the tackles, but is fairly explosive in the passing game. When he gets in space and runs over the DB's.

Also, it was posted here that he only rushed for 3.8 yards per carry. Over the weekend I was reading some things on our last SB win. That season our leading rusher was Marcus Allen. He ran for a little over a thousand yards. Allen's average -- 3.8 yards per carry.

Knapp is the exact opposite of aggressive, up-tempo, and fast. He is slow, prodding, and predictable. He will make us the easiest team to game plan for defensively around the league. We will have to win on talent alone without any help from good and creative play calling.

INDIANAPOLIS — David Cornwell has sent an 11-page letter to all fellow agents, detailing flaws in DeMaurice Smith’s candidacy for NFL Players Association executive leadership.

Smith’s contract is up in March, and Cornwell, a longtime attorney and agent who opposed Smith for the NFLPA executive director job after Gene Upshaw’s 2008 death, has sent a memo around the league making a case against renewing Smith’s contract.

“Despite my greatest hopes, my personal experience reveals that (Smith’s) vision in 2008 was little more than an inside Washington political campaign — high on style, low on substance,” Cornwell wrote in the memo, a copy of which was obtained. “(His) grandiose pronouncements did not translate into meaningful progress in the business of playing football. This was NOT the high level "OC" I would have expected...That "Duck" "OC" sounded much more promising to me...But the Pryor element could make it an interesting call...Just not really sure of anything at the moment???

But trying to stay positive so:

No word as to weather Al Saunders stays on or not but if he does at least the terminology will remain the same and this will help speed up the transition period....Everyone will be on the same page that that much quicker with the main difference that Napp is the new play caller...

We certainly have the running arsenal to fit into Napp's fantasy Napp...LoL!!...Palmer lacks legs but can add a few yds when needed...

Knapp was the alledged OC under Lance Kiffin and Tom Cable, if you recall. A Lance Kiffin and Tom Cable that called their own offensive plays. Knapp was not the play caller, and was a puppet; someone who didn't have control of Coordinating the Offense to his liking. I would give him another shot.

There is a Free Agent Running Back that I think the Raiders would benefit signing if we elect not to sign Michael Bush. A RB when combined with McFadden would be the sickest combo in the NFL. Peyton Hillis. He wasn't happy with how the Browns treated him this year, and indications are he is on his way out. Pro Football Talk is reporting a "renewed interest" by the Browns to resign him due to how he ended the season, but is it enough to spark interest from Hillis returning? I doubt it. He took a lot of blame from them during the season. How's that for tweaking the current roster?

Does anyone think that Winston Moss will get a shot at Defensive Coordinator? I think he might. I think that is one reason why he didn't get a HC interview, lack of Coordinator position, even though he is the assistant coach for the Packers. I mean it sure surprised everyone that Allen was named Head Coach. A lot of reports that Reggie was going to hire guys he "knew". The same is now being said with Allen, that he is going to hire guys "he knows" or "worked with". We could talk with Moss about the Coordinator position because he is a LB coach, and we can do it without permission; which would explain why we interviewed him before the Packers' season ended. Just food for thought.

Well, in Atlanta he called the plays as OC. Same in Seattle. He did not call the plays with us, except the last few games of Cable's first year.

The Atlanta teams led the league in rushing three years in a row. But, there is a caveat. Michael Vick was the QB. He was contributing 400-600 yards each season. Many of which were not "planned" runs.

Now, he does seem to have good results with quarterbacks. He helped develop Matt Schaub at Atlanta and did a good job with the QB's at Houston this season. I don't think anyone could help Russell.

Pryor is somewhat in the mold of a Vick. I would hope that Pryor is a better passer than Vick. Vick was more of a thrower earlier in his career. Not sure if he's changed much in Philly.

This week will be interesting.

IMO, keeping Saunders as OC might be a mistake. Didn't Palmer complain that Jackson wasn't around to go over the game plans? I have to wonder why Saunders couldn't fill that role. We don't know if Saunders even wants the total responsibility of OC. Remember, he came to Oakland as no more than assistant to Jackson.

And while I don't love the notion of bringing back Knapp, it's possible that Knapp could do better without an O-minded HC and with the additional experience under his belt.

Media reports that the Pats currently have 18 undrafted free agents on their 53-man roster, with eight starters.

Looking to make his first major staff hire, new Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has found his man.

Two sources told FOXSports.com that Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp was offered Oakland’s offensive coordinator position. Knapp held the same position with the Raiders in 2007 and 2008. He also has previous NFL coordinator experience with San Francisco (2001 to 2003), Atlanta (2004 to 2006) and Seattle (2010). Allen and Knapp worked together as Falcons assistants in 2004 and 2005.

Knapp, 48, earned high praise this season for the work he did with Texans rookie quarterback T.J. Yates. Forced into action because of injuries to Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart, Yates helped guide the Texans to their first postseason appearance and a first-round victory over Cincinnati.
